Job Description

Job Title: Principal Quality Engineer – Assurance (NDE)

Location: Barrow-In-Furness (Onsite)

Salary: Competitive (Commensurate with skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing own tasks, delivering results, anticipating and escalating problem areas, providing guidance, coaching and mentoring to more junior members of the Quality department and Operations staff
  • Coaching within your area of expertise allowing you to articulate technical information in a way that is easy to understand
  • Supporting and leading NDT technology projects across all methods of NDT
  • Carry out NDE inspections/audits by yourself and with teams
  • ·Supporting SSNA build strategy and design reviews to ensure NDT is appropriate planned and achievable for future contracts
  • Supporting build NDT teams with technical problems & NDT techniques

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • PCN Level 2 in; MT (MPI), PT (DPI), UT, ToFD, PAUT & RT

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of running/operating NDT technology / inspection qualification projects
  • FdSc Non-Destructive Testing or B.Eng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering
  • Knowledge of the Submarines infrastructure
  • PCN level 3 & NDT modelling software

The NDT Quality Team:

This is a unique opportunity to become part of the Quality team in a complex shipbuilding environment, using a wide range of inspection techniques and equipment to support the Dreadnought & Astute build programme and ensure the delivery of world-class Submarine capability to the Royal Navy.

You’ll join an established, continuously evolving team at the forefront of Dreadnought & Astute submarine construction covering all the Barrow site. In this role you will report to the NDT Quality Leader and will carry out NDT Surveillance in line with build and programme demands. In addition, you will be lead or support on one or more NDT technology Projects.

We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
