Job Description:
The Principal Logistics Data & Governance Professional supports logistics governance, performance, and continuous improvement within a shipbuilding environment, ensuring efficient and compliant logistics operations. Working with internal teams and a third-party logistics provider, you will drive performance, manage risks, analyse logistics data, and support informed decision-making to deliver cost-effective logistics solutions aligned to programme requirements.
Core duties:
- You will lead logistics governance and assurance activities, including audits, process confirmations, and stock accuracy checks to drive operational efficiency and network optimisation
- Ensure you analyse logistics performance, trends, and cost drivers, developing dashboards and insights to support stakeholder decision-making
- Monitor KPIs across 3PL (third party logistics) and internal operations, ensuring performance meets SHE, cost, quality, and schedule requirements
- You will manage 3PL compliance with contractual SLAs, regulatory obligations, and company policies through robust governance and escalation processes
- Provide expert challenge and guidance to stakeholders and suppliers to improve logistics performance and strategic outcomes
Essential Skills:
- Demonstrable analytical capability, interpreting data, trends, and cost drivers to deliver operational improvements and business value
- Subject matter expertise in logistics governance, 3PL management, and supply chain operations, influencing performance through effective stakeholder challenge and guidance
- Experience leading audits and assurance activities, ensuring compliance, identifying risks, and driving continuous improvement
- Ability to translate complex logistics performance insights into clear recommendations that support informed decision-making
The Logistics Team:
The Logistics team supports shipbuilding programmes by ensuring materials and equipment are available when required. Working across multiple functions, it offers a highly collaborative environment. This role manages the performance, governance, and continuous improvement of a key on-site 3PL partner, ensuring efficient and reliable logistics delivery.
