Job Title: Lead Civil/Structural Engineer

Location: Preston, Portsmouth, Frimley, Christchurch, Broad Oak, Westcott or Filton.

Salary: £63,000+ per annum

What you’ll be doing:

In this role, you lead the technical delivery of multidisciplinary projects, managing your own workload while overseeing the Civil and Structural Team. You prepare concept designs, feasibility assessments, preliminary reports, and detailed layouts using appropriate software. You also conduct design reviews, attend engineering and project meetings, and manage resulting actions. A key part of the role involves contributing to planning, risk management, quality, and SHE processes to support effective project delivery.

You oversee subcontractor design work, maintain strong links with civil and structural designers, and undertake peer reviews when required. Responsibilities also include condition surveys, technical reporting, and site inspections. Additionally, you may act as Engineering Manager on construction projects, ensuring professional standards and compliance throughout the engineering lifecycle.

Core duties:

  • You will be or be able to demonstrate being close to achieving Chartered Engineer status with an appropriate Institution (ICE, IStructE or equivalent).
  • You will have post graduate experience in the design and construction of infrastructure projects
  • You will have demonstrable knowledge of managing construction and FM Engineering processes
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, Project
  • You will have experience of discipline specific standards and Codes of Practice relating to design, installation and maintenance

The Real Estate and Infrastructure:

RE&I work across the BAE Systems Business units providing specialist support for construction activities. We currently act as Client representatives, Principal Designers and Designers during the Pre-construction activities.

Our projects range from office refurbishment schemes to £100m+ site regeneration projects. The team contributes with the initial feasibility through to spatial coordination activities (RIBA 3). We also take on a governance role through stages 4-6.
