Role Description:

We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a Practitioner Project Manager to join our Maritime Sustainment Program Delivery team at the Osborne Naval Shipyard in SA.

In this role, you’ll work closely with the Performance Manager to drive the successful delivery of assigned projects—ensuring technical outcomes, cost targets, and schedule commitments are met in line with contractual obligations and business goals. It’s a chance to play a meaningful part in a high‑profile maritime program while shaping real impact across a complex, fast‑moving environment.

Core Duties:

  • Enhance program metrics — Partner with delivery teams to refine and uplift Program KPIs and performance measures.
  • Define business requirements — Work closely with stakeholders to capture requirements and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Drive performance reporting — Produce status reports and coordinate variance analysis and corrective‑action activities.
  • Design cross‑functional solutions — Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to shape solutions that meet business needs.
  • Coordinate program reporting — Compile Program Performance reports, ensuring timely, high‑quality measurement submissions.
  • Support informed decision‑making — Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to guide business decisions.
  • Participate in review forums — Attend and contribute to project and program review meetings.
  • Resolve program issues — Lead or support issue resolution activities as directed by the Program Lead Team.

Essential Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in a project management or project support role
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and management skills
  • Experience co-ordinating cross-functional teams
  • Understanding of scheduling integration
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Visio
  • Ability to partner with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to obtain the necessary deliverables
  • Capability to identify and solve complex problems, think critically and innovate
  • High level writing and presentation skills that extend to clear and accurate reports appropriate for a management audience
  • Current Baseline Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management or relevant experience (desirable, but not essential)

Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) program:

Under the Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) program, Australia’s Hobart class destroyers — HMA Ships Hobart, Brisbane and Sydney, will receive advancements that will boost capability to ensure they remain effective in a dynamic maritime environment
