Job title: Nuclear Careers Manager

What you’ll be doing:

  • Responsible to the Nuclear Strategic Workforce Planning Lead for maintaining the resilience of all Nuclear Skilled Resource described as the Nuclear Baseline
  • Provides cross-fuctional direction for the management of talent within the Nuclear Baseline, enabled by functionally-based HR teams
  • Responsible for the supply solution in response to cross-functional demand plan for Nuclear Early Careers and their exit roles, liaising with Shared Services to enact the supply solution
  • Chair the Nuclear Skills Cross Functional Group, providing enablement for a resilient nuclear workforce
  • Support the Nuclear Strategic Workforce Planning Lead in the strategic management of the nuclear skills base
  • Support the Nuclear Strategic Workforce Planning Lead in providing strategic management of nuclear vulnerabilities, to ensure that the risks are recognised and are being proactively managed

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Experience as a Subject Matter Expert in a nuclear Role, working in a submarine delivery programme environment
  • Previous experience in a Human Resources or People capability role
  • Knowledge of Nuclear site Licencing Conditions and Authorising Conditions

Desirable:

  • Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer status (or equivalent or appropriate nuclear experience
  • CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) or CMI (Chartered Management Institute) OR relevant experience in people management

The Nuclear Discipline, Skills & Capability Team:

This is a brand-new role at BAE created to facilitate and manage nuclear careers throughout the business in order to support the growth of the business Resource. You will be joining a team of 16 based at Barrow whose main task is to support & manage the Nuclear Skills Training arrangements & courses. You will have the opportunity to gain exposure across the wider business areas as you will be liaising with cross functional teams such as Engineering, Operations as well as Senior Nuclear Leadership teams. This novel role is industry leading and will allow the successful candidate a chance to help manage BAES Nuclear resources in the face of growing industry nuclear resource demand. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
