About the OPPORTUNITY

We’re seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join the AUKUS Program at BAE Systems in Adelaide (Flinders St), on a permanent, full-time basis.

Work with integrated engineering and build teams to shape the future of submarine manufacturing in Australia. You’ll help align UK design with local capability, supporting the development of build strategies, engineering processes and future shipyard infrastructure. If you’re experienced in large scale and complex manufacturing environments and thrive on collaboration, innovation and navigating change, this role offers the chance to make a real impact.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide governance, oversight and technical expertise manufacturing processes, ensuring safe systems of work, quality control and configuration management.
  • Act as interface between Production and Engineering, interpreting and advising on technical documentation, design changes and manufacturability.
  • Deliver expert input into design-for-manufacture and product safety
  • Drive introduction of new technologies/processes to enhance efficiency
  • Drive continuous improvement by optimising quality, reducing cost and waste, and resolving technical or process issues.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering technical capability and best practice

About YOU

  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes in a commercial and/or defence environment
  • Degree level qualifications in an Engineering discipline
  • Engineering experience enabling eligibility for admission to the Institution Chartered Professional or experience enabling admission into the Institution of Engineers, Australia
  • Significant experience within a production engineering capacity
  • Understand governance, compliance, and integration processes

Application REQUIREMENT & CLEARANCE

As this role requires a Defence security clearance, applicants must be Australian citizens capable of obtaining and maintaining a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) clearance. Further information on security clearances can be found here.

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) also apply, meaning nationality may influence suitability for this position. Due to the nature of the program, the successful candidate will also be required to complete and pass a nuclear mindset assessment prior to commencement.
