LOGISTICS OFFICER

Role Description:

We have an exciting opportunity working within Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) where you will be responsible for supporting day-to-day logistics operations to ensure the effective management, movement, and traceability of stock, materials, and fuel.

This includes warehouse duties, compliance with safety and policy requirements, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders across BAE Systems and the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA). You will work collaboratively with other teams within BAE and CoA to support broader project and operational goals.

Core Duties:

  • Manage inventory levels and ensure availability of consumables and spares for site operations.
  • Coordinate courier runs to depots, freight movements, and transportation logistics. This includes packing, labelling, dispatching, and tracking of freight, as well as obtaining freight quotations when necessary
  • Conduct monthly stock audits and stocktakes using the Maintenance Management System (MMS), , in line with BAE and Defence Policy
  • Monitor and maintain accurate fuel demands, receipts, and data in the Joint Fuels Inventory Management System (JFIMS), ensuring compliance with legislative obligations
  • Raise and process purchase requisitions for stock reorders and general requirements, ensuring item traceability by maintaining accurate receipt and conformance documentation
  • Perform periodic data integrity checks across BAE and CoA databases to support accurate reporting and compliance
  • Execute disposals of items in line with BAE and ESCM policy and procedure
  • Act as a data administrator with tasks such as; Cataloguing inventory, create locations and reading engineering drawings
  • Ensure all activities meet Work Health and Safety Act obligations, particularly regarding warehouse operations and manual handling practices

Essential Skills:

  • Ability and willingness to travel to and work at remote radar sites for project support when required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a High Risk Work Licence (forklift operation)
  • Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations

The JORN Team

The Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) is a connected series of three remote over-the-horizon radars (OTHR) located in Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia. The state-of-the-art defence radar system provides wide-area surveillance at ranges of 1,000 to 3,000 kilometres and plays a vital role in supporting the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) air and maritime operations, border protection, disaster relief, and rescue operations.
