Job Description:

As Lead Modelling & Simulation Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across all modelling, simulation, and digital representation activities throughout the system lifecycle. You will define the simulation architecture and infrastructure, lead a team of engineers, and ensure robust verification and validation of models to support system design, performance analysis, and test activities. Acting as the key technical authority for simulation within the Falconworks Systems Engineering Team, you will integrate models into wider system-of-systems environments, advise stakeholders on results and assumptions, and support key engineering decisions. You will also drive best practice, continuous improvement, and ensure high-quality delivery of simulation outputs in line with programme requirements, governance, and engineering standards.

Core duties:

  • Define and lead the modelling & simulation strategy, including tools, frameworks, and architecture
  • Collaborate with systems, software, hardware, test, and V&V teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Develop and maintain system and sub-system models using appropriate simulation tools
  • Design and implement simulation and integration environments
  • Plan and lead verification & validation activities to ensure model accuracy and credibility against real-world data
  • Conduct simulation-based trade studies and system performance analysis
  • Manage configuration control, documentation, and compliance with engineering standards and processes
  • Monitor and report on technical risk, schedule, and budget within the modelling & simulation scope

Essential Skills:

  • Proven leadership and team management experience
  • STEM degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong requirement management and systems engineering capability
  • Experience in engineering planning, reviews, and delivery assurance
  • Ability to define technical solutions and resolve complex engineering conflicts
  • Understanding of technical integration within certification or assurance environments
  • Strong awareness of compliance frameworks and operational governance standards

The Falconworks Systems Engineering Team:

You will lead the Falconworks Systems Engineering Team’s modelling & simulation capability, providing technical direction across simulation architecture, model development, and digital environments. Managing a team of 6–7 engineers, you will ensure high-quality delivery of simulation assets that support key system design, verification, and decision-making activities across the programme.

Acting as the primary simulation expert, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders, customers, and partner teams, presenting results and guiding technical decisions. You will also champion continuous improvement in modelling and simulation tools, methods, and best practice, while representing the discipline in governance forums and technical reviews.
