Job Title: IT Infrastructure Team Lead

Job Location: Barrow-in-Furness -Working Onsite

Salary: Up to £65,000 depending on experience

Role Description:

You will have responsibility for supporting a small team on our Submarines site to develop and deliverer IT services within BAE Systems. The role will look at the day to day running of business activities to aid infrastructure support issues whilst maintaining, managing and optimising the overall performance and availability of the infrastructure. Your role will include all main aspects of people management from task distribution to performance management. Customers are our business sectors internal engineering and we work to bridge the gap between infrastructure and software development and drive efficiency through high levels of automation. Whilst technology-delivery is core to our role, so too is the appreciation of how we enable the business and service availability.

Core Duties:

  • Day-to-day management of the team, including task delegation, performance reviews, and the promotion of a collaborative and efficient working environment
  • Leading the support and management of the business infrastructure across Windows and Linux platforms
  • Overseeing the installation, configuration and deployment of IT hardware, drawing on your infrastructure hosting experience
  • Administering a virtualised production environment using industry-standard tools
  • Regular engagement with senior stakeholders to ensure alignment on objectives and strategic priorities

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience in a team leader or supervisory role
  • Installing, configuring and supporting Windows and/or Linux operating systems
  • Detailed understanding of network architecture, with a focus on Palo Alto firewall and network security technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of hypervisor technologies, including VMware, Horizon and other virtual platforms
  • Experience using a variety of IT administration and management applications
  • Awareness of cyber security methodologies and best practices

The Infrastructure Engineering team:

You’ll be joining a collaborative team dedicated to delivering new enabling capabilities, developing and supporting systems and services, and resolving infrastructure issues with speed and precision. We partner closely with our internal engineering and product teams, bridging the gap between infrastructure and software development to drive efficiency through high levels of automation. While delivering technology is at the heart of what we do, we also take pride in understanding how our work enables the wider business and ensures exceptional service availability.
