Salary:  £54,000 per annum

Job Description

Job Title: In-Service Senior Systems Engineer

Location: New Malden. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Circa £54,000

What you’ll be doing:

  • Coordinating reach-back activities to Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) in the product teams to resolve defects / technical queries reported by operationally deployed platforms
  • Coordinating an integrated equipment (CMS – Combat Management, System SI – Shared Infrastructure, INE – Internal Networks Electronics) service programme, including Technology Refresh, which is coherent with adjacent programmes
  • Ensuring strong engagement with the Customer Engineering community is maintained
  • Overseeing the Product Safety and Security programmes to ensure all requirements are met/achieved
  • Overseeing Product change within the programme through Project Change Control Boards (CCBS)
  • Analysing defect trend data and associated Learning From Experience (LFE) to enable product/process improvement
  • Delivering project convergence through establishing a common product approach

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Experience of the Systems / Software Engineering Lifecycle
  • Experience in coordinating and facilitating technical programme issues across a diverse range of sub-teams
  • A methodical approach to planning tasks and willing to display flexibility through response to change

Desirable:

  • Experience of supporting a COTS/IT product in service, including obsolescence management
  • Combat management system knowledge
  • Knowledge of Royal Navy customers and the deployed platform environment

The REDCODE team:

As part of the RECODE (Real Time Combat Systems Open Data Enablers) Team this role provides the opportunity to lead in the delivery of key technology and capability updates to the Royal Navy. The team are responsible for maintaining high levels of combat system equipment availability across multiple deployed platform classes, including the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers and Type 45 Destroyers. It brings opportunities to experience all stages of the capability life cycle across a wide range of engineering disciplines, engage with many external customer and internal BAE Combat Systems organisations, and proactively embed new ways of working.
