Job title: Graduate Defence Solutions Systems Engineer (Radar & Sensors)

Location: Great Baddow (Essex). We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – however for this role you will be expected to attend your site 4-5 days per week.

Salary: £34,000 Per Annum + £2,000 Welcome Bonus

Role description

A graduate technical Systems Engineering role developing industry recognised skills associated with the principles of Systems Engineering that can be applied across the entire engineering development lifecycle from requirement definition through to system integration and acceptance into system support. You will utilise these growing Systems Engineering skills in actual product development of radar system solutions that meet real world demands at the forefront of the defence industry.

Core duties

  • Learning and applying Systems Engineering principles to support the design of systems throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Discerning and decomposing requirements to system and sub-system level, learning requirements management techniques.
  • Undertaking system design, using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques, to subsystem level using toolsets such as CATIA Magic or Enterprise Architect.
  • Undertaking modelling and simulation of system elements using toolsets such as MATLAB/Simulink/Python.
  • Assisting with definition and execution of system integration and testing.
  • Supporting senior engineers in the definition of Verification and Validation acceptance strategies.
  • Supporting senior engineers in liaison with internal and external stakeholders ensuring effective system solutions are realised.

Please be aware that many roles at BAE Systems are subject to both security and export control restrictions. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.

Qualification requirements

As a minimum requirement you must have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level in the following subjects: Systems Engineering, Physics, Maths, Computer Systems Engineering, Computer Science or Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering.

Start date: 6th September 2027 Length of contract: Permanent contract
