Job Title: Future Radar Portfolio Engineering Manager

Location: Cowes – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Circa £ 80 k + depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

Lead and manage engineering teams, subcontractors, and key partnerships to ensure effective delivery of programme objectives

Plan and oversee engineering activities to ensure products are safe, compliant, integrated, and delivered to cost, quality, and schedule requirements

Define and allocate resources across the project lifecycle, ensuring efficient use of skills and capabilities within agreed limits

Resolve integration and technical issues, ensuring solutions are clearly defined, controlled, and aligned across disciplines

Support team development through skills planning, performance optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives

Engage and influence internal and external stakeholders to ensure product solutions meet contractual and technical specifications

Your skills and experience:

Strong understanding of engineering principles across multiple disciplines, with the ability to interpret and assess technical issues in a wider programme context

In-depth knowledge of Engineering Planning, Engineering Maturity, and the full Engineering Lifecycle

Proven experience in Project Management and leading complex technical bids

Solid understanding of how engineering functions are structured and how multi-disciplinary teams are integrated to deliver programme objectives

Awareness of customer requirements, industry standards, and best practices within a highly regulated environment

Demonstrated leadership of large engineering teams (50+ staff), with a focus on coordination, performance management, and cross-functional collaboration

The Future Air Dominance Systems Mast and Sensor team:

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a Portfolio Engineering Manager, responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of a key engineering programme: the Future Air Dominance Systems Mast and Sensor solution. The role demands oversight of complex, multi-disciplinary teams, contract management, and the assurance of delivery against defined cost, quality, and schedule objectives. You will lead the integration of cross-functional engineering disciplines, engage with both internal and external stakeholders, and drive strategic initiatives involving advanced, next-generation technologies. With direct line management of a team of engineering leaders, this position offers a rare opportunity to shape a vital defence capability at the forefront of innovation.
