Field Technician
Job Location: Osborne, SA

Role Description:
Step Off the Tools and into Engineering Support
Bring your hands-on trade experience into a role where you’ll directly support production teams and trades with practical, real-world engineering advice. You’ll stay close to the action on the shop floor while building your technical knowledge and understanding of design requirements.
Please note this role does require onsite presence at Osborne.

We’re looking for people with experience in:
- Fabrication and Welding
- Mechanical Fitting
- Boilermaking
If you hold a trade certificate or diploma qualification, this is a great opportunity to take the next step in your career—moving off the tools into a role that blends practical skills with technical development.
Core Duties:
- Review reported issues and conduct technical investigations, including root cause analysis and engineering assessments within your area of expertise
- Liaise with stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather insights on affected systems and equipment, supporting informed decision-making
- Deliver engineering analysis and recommendations to the Technical Authority to ensure the as-built product aligns with design intent
- Act as a key communication link between Production and the broader business, supporting effective issue management processes
Essential Skills:
- A trade certificate or diploma qualification
- Strong attention to detail
- Clear and confident communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret detailed design, fabrication, or assembly drawings
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn, adapt, and develop new skills
- Holds, or is eligible to obtain, a Baseline Defence security clearance
The Hunter Class Frigate Team
The Hunter Class Frigate Program is comprised of various teams all with the same goal – to build the 6 new Frigates for the Royal Australian Navy. The Production Engineering Support team are part of the broader program working to deliver production engineering outcomes
