Job Description:

You will join our Early Careers Team to deliver engaging, industry‑focused training in Steelwork and Fabrication, supporting apprentices as they develop the skills and behaviours needed for advanced manufacturing careers. Based at Furness College, you’ll help create a positive and collaborative learning environment, using your engineering experience to bring the curriculum to life and ensure apprentices make meaningful progress.

Core duties:

  • Delivering teaching on advanced manufacturing programmes, aligned with Apprenticeship standards and BAE Systems’ learning delivery models, incorporating innovation to enhance teaching and learning practice
  • Contributing to the planning, monitoring and evaluation of the curriculum, while promoting a positive and meaningful learning culture
  • Preparing and marking assessments across programmes, providing clear, constructive feedback to ensure the rapid development of apprentices’ skills and knowledge
  • Conducting apprentice performance reviews, setting high-quality, targeted objectives to drive continuous improvement in skills, knowledge and behaviours
  • Producing accurate, timely reports and data on apprentice progress, with proactive monitoring and analysis to support development
  • Supporting apprentice interviews, enrolment, induction, open days and enrichment activities
  • Contributing to the development of inclusive blended learning approaches, making use of digital platforms to enrich curriculum delivery

Essential Skills:

  • Engineering experience in at least one of the following disciplines: Sheet Metal Work / Steelwork (Fabrication)
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to create and share engaging, innovative learning resources

The Early Careers Team:

As part of this role, you will be joining a large and supportive team of dedicated Engineering Lecturers, all working together to deliver high-quality training across Steelwork, Sheet Metal work & Fabrication.

You will be based partly at Furness College, contributing to a collaborative learning environment where apprentices are supported to achieve the world-class standards expected at BAE Systems. Your own engineering experience will be vital in shaping lessons that are practical, engaging and industry-relevant.

There is also the opportunity to undertake an assessor qualification if desired, further enhancing your professional development and broadening your impact within the team.
