Job Description:

As an Early Careers & Skills Development Coach specialising in aircraft/mechanical engineering, you will play a key role in shaping the next generation of engineering talent by designing and delivering engaging, high-quality learning experiences. Using a blended approach of on-the-job training and formal education, you will support learners throughout their journey, from recruitment through to successful completion, providing both technical guidance and pastoral care within an engineering environment. You will act as a positive role model, inspiring individuals to reach their full potential while ensuring all training meets awarding body standards and aligns with business needs. Working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of programmes, support curriculum development, and maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, and learner experience.

Core duties:

  • Deliver and support high-quality Early Careers programmes within an aircraft/mechanical engineering environment, using a blended learning approach
  • Coach, mentor and develop learners through on-the-job training, providing career guidance and supporting their progression into the business
  • Assess and monitor learner performance against relevant standards, ensuring achievement of occupational competence and compliance with awarding body requirements
  • Provide consistent pastoral support, including safeguarding, welfare and wellbeing, throughout the learner journey
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support positive learner outcomes
  • Contribute to the design and continuous improvement of curriculum content, incorporating innovative learning methods and stretch activities
  • Ensure all activities are delivered in line with safety, health and environmental standards, maintaining a culture of quality and compliance
  • Accurately record and report learner progress and performance data to support programme delivery and continuous improvement

Essential Skills:

  • Hold an Assessor qualification together with an aircraft engineering or mechanical engineering (or related) background
  • Experience coaching or mentoring others in a workplace setting
  • Experience working within a regulated environment, including quality or compliance requirements
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders
