Job Description
Job title: Support Engineer – Configuration Control
Location: Barrow-In-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: Negotiable dependant on experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Reporting to the Lead Project Professional to help support the management and interpretation of Configuration data and engineering focused requirements within the Datum Pack to meet quality standards and customer requirements
- Interrogation & Implementation of Toolsets to manage the Configuration and Quality Control of requirements within the Datum Pack
- Attend meetings and engage with Stakeholders both internally and externally as required
- Maintenance and interpretation of Metrics to support the monitoring of appropriate Datum Pack Requirements
- Ensure Quality Assurance initiatives are acted upon at all times whilst applying “right first time” Philosophy
- Provide support to other functions as required to progress Datum Pack requirements.
- Provide technical detail or change status reports as requested
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Previous experience working within a Project Management or Engineering role
- Strong communication skills to work with both internal and external stakeholders to provide the required levels of service and guidance regarding configuration control matters
Desirable:
- Experience working with configuration control or engineering quality control
- Knowledge of the engineering lifecycle

The Datum Pack Team:
The Datum Pack team is ever growing, having recently increased the team size from 3 to 10 members in the past few years to both the Astute and Dreadnought Programmes. The team is diverse and is made up of a wide range of previous experience from Project management to engineering, therefore it brings together a varying skillset and experiences aligning with the nature of the work in Datum Pack. Joining this team allows you to be part of the future growth of Submarine Support in Barrow and also gives you the opportunity to work with a range of Internal and External stakeholders including the MoD. This role provides exposure internally across functions such as Engineering, Quality and Integrated Combat Systems so you will gain a wide range of understanding of how the business functions and how the submarine life-cycle develops through to handover to in-service.
