Job Title: Electrical/Electronic Maintenance and Test Engineer

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base

Salary: £42,000 – £44,300 depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Maintenance, defect diagnosis and rectification on Electrical/Electronic Systems
  • Applying logical and methodical problem-solving skills in order to resolve complex challenges, issues and faults associated with, operation and performance of Systems
  • Operating Safe Systems of Work that comply with the company SHE procedures at all times
  • Providing information and technical advice to assist in the compilation of estimates, programs and work packages
  • Offering mentorship and technical guidance to less experienced Engineers

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Knowledge and experience of Electrical/Electronic Systems and what influences their performance
  • Understanding of electrical safe systems of work
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal, ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
  • IT literate in the use of Microsoft Office, with the ability to produce technical reports and spreadsheets

The Electrical Systems team:

Step into a dynamic role where no two days are the same. Take on the challenge of commissioning, operating, maintaining, and rectifying defects in Electrical HV & LV Systems across the Royal Navy’s vessels, including Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers, Type 45 Destroyers, Type 23 Frigates, and HUNT class ships. This is more than just a technical role, it’s an opportunity to work on cutting-edge systems, engage in a variety of tasks, and travel across the UK and internationally, bringing expertise wherever it’s needed.
