JOB PURPOSE

BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The Engineering Manager is the key interface between the Supply Chain organisation and the TSS Operational teams to provide operational context and to effectively translate operational requirements into Supply Chain action and decision making. This involves routinely interfacing with Maintenance & UK/KSA Technical Services Teams whilst also supporting complex Quality or Product Safety activities.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide direction: Apply technical knowledge and expertise to analyse, select, apply and review the optimal course of action in order to resolve supply chain technical issues.
  • Assist in resolving supply chain engineering queries and actions from the customer, in conjunction with other agencies in providing engineering solution and recommendations.
  • Through a triage process in JLF select the most expedient & cost effective repairs to return to industry.
  • Liaise with the procurement and technical teams in the sentencing and progressing Obsolescence activities.
  • Assist in the resolution of discrepancies for ROIDS and MDR’s.
  • Understanding the role of BAESAI, the Prime Contractor, RSAF & SPO.
  • Be capable of managing complex issues.
  • Positively influence change outside of direct hierarchy. Ensure the professional integrity with which they are carried out.
  • Set the right tone with respect to safety leadership behaviours.
  • Support the development of a culture that learns from mistakes and set the agenda for continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain constructive and trusting relationships with all BAESAI Supply Chain team members, the RSAF Customer, MODSAP, RAF and TSS programme personnel.
  • Engage and constructively work towards the TSS achievement of business salients and management of risk & opportunity.
  • Manage performance, conduct, development and reward for subordinate team members and others as appropriate and applicable.
  • Manage PDR, TDY, Leave, Attendance and all other management functions for subordinate team members and others as appropriate and applicable.
  • Delivery of all SHE, Operational Framework, Code of Conduct and other training as required to subordinate team members and others as appropriate and applicable.
  • Drive high performance throughout area of responsibility through Total Performance Leadership
  • Create a motivating and inclusive climate within remit, with a view to driving business forward.
  • Where applicable manage all budgets and resources within area of responsibility to achieve maximum efficiency in line with business operating principles.
  • Commit to the delivery of Saudisation in area of responsibility as applicable, undertaking management actions to effectively achieve Saudisation targets.
  • Develop succession plans for areas of accountability in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Any other people management requirement or accountability required and deemed appropriate at Executive/Managerial level.
  • Lead the effective implementation of the SHE policy, SMS and Standards across areas and sectors they control.
  • Ensure SHE performance standards are established, monitored and reviewed.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of a SHE plan to support the function/ programme.
  • Clearly define resource requirements from delivery teams in terms of time and funds to adequately discharge those given duties/responsibilities.
  • Ensure all team members complete the mandated Business unit SHE awareness training in accordance with this document.
  • Carry out regular reviews of SHE performance for their respective areas.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the relevant SHE standards within the work areas for which they are responsible.

RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION

Essential

  • Educated to at least HND Level 5 or equivalent in an Aircraft engineering discipline or have accrued relevant experience in a military aircraft environment.
  • Have extensive knowledge and practical experience in the maintenance and support of modern combat aircraft systems. Essential to have first-hand experience Aircraft maintenance and be able to analyse the technical orders and design documents.
  • Have a sound understanding of the application of Air Worthiness Management & Governance Principles and how these apply to the roles and responsibilities of the Organisations and Authorities who ensure the effectiveness of the controlled environment.
  • Knowledge of the RSAF Supply Chain and Support Areas including technical procedures and directives. Ideally this should include experience working directly with the RSAF.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the UK and Saudi based logistics organisations at Samlesbury, Warton and Dhahran.
  • Have an appreciation of the quality processes and procedures in KSA.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience in Aerospace Supply and Logistics
  • Proven in depth knowledge of Aerospace Supply and Logistics, preferably within a maintenance support environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing teams of personnel effectively, organising and delegating tasks appropriately.
  • An appreciation of Supply Chain accounting principles and systems; IFS APP 7 and IMS.
  • Ability to use MS office products.
  • A track record of meeting strict deadlines without compromising standards and quality.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organisation
  • Supply Chain experience and familiarity with the Supply Chain functions.
