Job Title: Buyer
Location: Rochester, Kent. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 dependent on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Receiving requisitions and demands, negotiate with suppliers and process Purchase Orders, Purchase Order Amendments and/or Purchase Agreements
- Maintain Supplier open order books inclusive of repairs and ensure that correct and current data is maintained in the Oracle ERP system.
- Negotiating Terms and Conditions, Price Agreements and other contractual documents with suppliers
- Maintaining strong, effective relationships with suppliers and be able to resolve relationship and performance issues
- Understanding the budget requirements for the Purchase Orders, identify opportunities for cost reduction/avoidance through effective negotiation
- Understanding and communicating key performance indicators for suppliers
Your skills and experiences:
Essential
- Proven experience in buying/procurement/purchasing
- Effective communicator and strong IT skills
Desirable
- Prior experience in leading negotiations and Supplier Relationship Management
- Manufacturing background
- HNC/HND in Business Studies or equivalent experience

The Procurement team:
Reporting into the Procurement Manager, you are responsible for the management of the material and suppliers for a business area and product line. You will work alongside and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, internal project teams and functions to ensure that the requirements of the business area are satisfied.
