Job Description

Job Title: ASTRID Programme Manager

Location: Frimley/Christchurch/Yeovil/Portsmouth. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: £67,000+ depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Accountability for order intake, revenue and margin targets for the ASTRID contract
  • Managing the ASTRID customer relationship with Dstl and key interfaces across customer stakeholders
  • Accountability for monitoring KPIs, Supply Chain health, and other framework performance metrics to lead customer meetings
  • Accountability for delivering service excellence to external customers, including senior stakeholder engagement across the entire MOD and other government departments
  • Working with colleagues within BAE Systems to maximise the strategic value of the ASTRID framework and influence the framework strategy
  • Managing and addressing ASTRID framework-level risks, issues and opportunities, and leading on continuous improvement of the framework
  • Managing the ASTRID project plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
  • Leading continuous improvement within ASTRID to drive efficiencies and effectiveness within the Project Management Office (PMO)
  • Line management of the ASTRID PMO team, undertaking all line management duties, including objective setting, development plans and performance reviews

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Experienced Programme Management practitioner
  • Demonstration of change management to support continuous improvement
  • Leadership and people management capability (ideally prior experience in a people leadership capacity, or able to develop into people leadership through capability and behaviours)
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and collaborative approach

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in supplier management
  • Qualification in relevant field (eg. Project Management qualification) and ideally LCM Assessor status
  • Knowledge of/experience in operational analysis and framework management

The team:

The ASTRID Framework was established by the Ministry of Defence in 2020 to provide analysis and decision support services across the defence, security and resilience domains. ASTRID is now delivering a broad portfolio of over 100 projects per year, ranging widely in scope, value and complexity.

As ASTRID Programme Manager you will lead a team of Project Managers delivering programme obligations under the contract, ensuring we deliver valuable outcomes for our customers and meet internal financial and business objectives. You’ll be working very closely with customers including DSTL and MoD.

This role will provide you with an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a unique role at BAE Systems.
