Role Description:

We have exciting opportunities for Aircraft Workers to join our HAWK, Lead in Fighter Team.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a fully operational flight line, including refuelling the Lead in Fighter (Hawk) jets, conducting flight servicings and dispatching and recovering them to lines. You will work in a highly dynamic working environment with internal training programs on offer.

You will be able to build on your skills, knowledge and experience as well as being aligned with meaningful work that will lead you into a career in Aviation.

Core Duties:

  • Carrying out launch and recovery of aircraft in an aviation environment.
  • Perform flight servicing including before flight servicing, turnaround servicing, after flight servicing.
  • Carrying out refuel and defuel of aircraft.
  • Carrying out engine/APU oil, aircraft hydraulic and nitrogen system replenishments
  • Changing aircraft cockpit seat configuration.
  • Charge aircraft batteries.
  • Perform aircraft washing.
  • Act in a trade assistant capacity for aircraft maintenance tasks.
  • Perform aircraft towing.
  • Assist with aircraft configuration changes.
  • Act as a wing/tail walker during aircraft movement activities.

Essential Skills:

  • Trade Qualification – Certificate II in Aeroskills (Essential).
  • Well-developed hand skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Good communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Relevant aircraft experience preferred; however no minimum years of experience required.
  • Intermediate level of computer skills to support platform maintenance and governance.
  • Demonstrated safety advocacy and a focus on safety culture.
  • Australian Citizen (Essential).

The Hawk Lead-In Fighter Team

Viewed as the role model for through-life support contracting, the Hawk Lead-In Fighter project was established by BAE Systems Australia to provide and support an outstanding, state-of-the-art fast jet training capability for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).

The Hawk is the world’s most successful advanced military jet trainer aircraft built on more than 35 years of fast jet training experience. More than 1,000 aircraft have operated across 18 countries, preparing more than 20,000 pilots for life in a fast-jet cockpit.

The Hawk Mark 127 Lead-In Fighter is a tandem, two-seater jet aircraft. Australia currently has 33 aircraft that have all been enhanced to ensure they remain cutting edge and future ready.
