We have an opportunity for a Depot Site Manager who will be responsible for the safe, efficient, commercially disciplined and cost-effective management of Maersk’s Uganda depot sites. The role owns day-to-day depot execution, people leadership, HSSE performance, equipment flow, operational discipline, customer experience, cost control and depot P&L delivery.
In addition, as the senior-most Local Product representative in Uganda, the role will provide country-level coordination support across Local Products, including Depot, CHB and Landside Transport. This includes stakeholder engagement, issue resolution, workflow governance, escalation management and general operational supervision where local alignment is required. The role is expected to act as the in-country bridge between Uganda execution teams, Area Product owners and cross-functional stakeholders, while ensuring that formal product ownership and accountability remains with the respective Area Product leaders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Depot Operations and Execution
Own day-to-day depot operations across Uganda depot sites.
Ensure depot operating processes are executed in line with agreed SOPs, customer requirements and Maersk standards.
Maintain strong control over equipment handling, stock accuracy, real-time updates, long-standing units and operational documentation.
Identify root causes of operational issues and drive sustainable corrective actions rather than short-term fixes.
HSSE and Compliance
Provide visible safety leadership across Uganda depot sites.
Ensure zero-fatality mindset, proactive safety observations, incident reporting, corrective actions and adherence to Maersk HSSE standards.
Ensure depot operations comply with internal controls, authority requirements, customer obligations and applicable regulatory expectations.
People Leadership
Lead, coach and develop Uganda depot employees.
Set clear objectives, performance expectations and accountability standards.
Build a motivated, engaged and disciplined site team.
Support onboarding, performance reviews, leave approvals and people development within the authority matrix.
Financial and Commercial Performance
Own depot P&L delivery in Uganda.
Drive cost discipline, cost avoidance, productivity improvement and CM1 protection.
Support depot-related commercial initiatives, customer solutions and strategic improvement opportunities.
Work closely with Area Depot leadership to deliver agreed scorecard targets.
Country Local Product Coordination
Act as the senior in-country Local Product representative for Uganda, supporting alignment across Depot, CHB and Landside Transport teams.
Provide local stakeholder engagement support with Sales, CX, Finance, Equipment, Ocean, customers, vendors, authorities and other relevant parties where cross-product coordination is required.
Support timely resolution of operational escalations affecting Uganda Local Products, ensuring issues are clearly owned, tracked and closed through the right product or functional owner.
Facilitate local workflow governance across Depot, CHB and Landside Transport, including handover discipline, escalation routines, SOP adherence, exception management and issue follow-up.
Provide general supervision and coordination support for Local Product activities in Uganda, without replacing the functional accountability of the respective Product Managers or team leads.
Ensure country-level risks, service failures, customer pain points and operational bottlenecks are escalated early to the relevant Area Product owner with clear facts, impact assessment and recommended corrective actions.
Support implementation of Area-led product initiatives in Uganda, including process changes, new operating models, customer solutions, vendor governance actions and performance improvement plans.
Represent Uganda Local Products in selected country forums where cross-product input, issue resolution or senior local alignment is required.
Drive a culture of collaboration across Local Products, ensuring depot, CHB and Landside Transport teams operate with shared priorities around customer experience, safety, cost, compliance and execution discipline.
