Assistant Manager, Asset Execution

Location: Miami, Florida

What We Can Offer

At APM Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement means every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers by continuously refining how we work. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.

  • Work in a global terminal environment where maintenance excellence directly supports safe and reliable operations.

  • Develop your leadership capabilities through direct supervision, coaching, training, and performance management responsibilities.

  • Collaborate across Maintenance, Planning, Inventory, Operations, and Asset Management teams to drive operational performance.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, equipment reliability, work quality, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily maintenance activities for mobile equipment and supporting systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient terminal operations.

  • Promote a strong culture of safety and compliance through safety observations, toolbox talks, incident investigations, and adherence to safe work practices.

  • Supervise technicians and contractors while coordinating maintenance resources to support operational requirements.

  • Ensure preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures and controls.

  • Coordinate closely with planners and supervisors to maximize schedule compliance, manage maintenance backlogs, and prioritize work effectively.

  • Ensure work orders are accurately documented and closed within the CMMS environment while supporting equipment inspections and deficiency resolution.

  • Identify recurring equipment issues, support root cause investigations, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

What We Are Looking For

  • Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset, curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time.

  • Technical Degree, Associate Degree, or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of maintenance planning or scheduling experience within heavy industrial, port, mining, manufacturing, logistics, transportation, or similar environments.

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience with responsibility for guiding and developing employees desirable.

  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems, with IFS experience considered advantageous.

  • Knowledge of maintenance planning and execution, leadership practices, safety management, and effective communication techniques.

In this role, you will serve as the first line of leadership within the Power Shop, helping to ensure equipment availability and maintenance execution performance. You will play a key role in supporting workforce development, operational continuity, and the successful delivery of maintenance activities that enable safe and productive terminal operations. This position requires a collaborative leader who can respond effectively to equipment failures, coordinate competing priorities, and maintain a strong focus on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The role includes both office and field-based responsibilities and may require exposure to outdoor working conditions, moving mechanical equipment, variable weather conditions, and flexible work schedules that can include evenings and weekends.
