APM Terminals
APM Terminals:
At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving — observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be apart of our journey.
At APMT Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement is driven by Lean principles, ensuring that every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.
The Port of Barcelona’s Muelle Sur Container Terminal is 100% owned by APM Terminals and has an annual throughput capacity of 1,560,000 TEU. In 2022, APM Terminals Barcelona's concession agreement was extended until 2036. An investment of EUR 170 million (infrastructure and container handling equipment) was agreed over the coming years to enable the terminal to handle the largest container ships in service.
APM Terminals Project Execution has, in agreement with APM Terminals Barcelona, recently commenced the ramp-up of the corresponding, multi-year project with the main focus on the civil & electrical engineering deliverables (quay wall, land side rail beam and furniture upgrades). The main challenge of this project resides in the need to undertake simultaneous operations i.e. multi-shift, marine and land construction works in between and around 24/7 operational berths, within a very busy port area (incl. cruise terminals proximity).
As Asset Delivery Lead the successful candidate will lead, drive and be accountable for – on behalf of APM Terminals Project Execution and in collaboration with the construction and equipment vendors – the execution and delivery of all physical assets as defined in the project scope and the integration of the whole into a working system ready for operational go-live. This includes all marine and civil infrastructure, buildings and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the execution and delivery of all physical assets within scope — including marine structures, civil works, buildings, and equipment — ensuring alignment with project schedule, budget, and operational requirements.
Manage all construction contractors, equipment suppliers, and technical partners, ensuring quality, safety, and progress throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Coordinate closely with the Project Manager, Terminal Operations, and Asset Management teams to ensure functional requirements, testing, commissioning, and handover processes are achieved.
Oversee design interfaces, constructability reviews, technical supervision, and overall progress control, ensuring compliance with APM Terminals standards.
Implement effective project controls, track baseline performance, assess delays, manage change, and ensure proactive risk mitigation.
Maintain clear, structured communication with internal teams, external vendors, and senior stakeholders, ensuring transparency, timely reporting, and early escalation of issues.
Promote a strong safety culture by integrating safety into design, leading by example on-site, and ensuring all contractors comply with APM Terminals’ HSSE standards.
Implement APM Terminals’ project controls framework in partnership with the Project Controls Manager.
Ensure all regulatory permits (planning, environmental, construction, etc.) are secured in line with project timelines.
What We Are Looking For:
10+ years in construction/project environments on large-scale infrastructure projects.
Proven success delivering civil/structural works and equipment.
Experience as Head of Asset Delivery / Construction Manager or similar leadership role.
Advanced project management certification (APM PMQ, PMI PMP or equivalent).
Strong technical knowledge: engineering design, construction management, procurement, commissioning.
Fluency in Spanish & English; strong communication and leadership skills.
Experience coaching teams; strong safety, governance and stakeholder management capabilities
Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a strong mindset of continuous improvement – someone who is naturally curious, committed to solving problems at the root, and driven to make things better every day.
Experience in matrix organizations and line management.
MSc in Civil Engineering or Project/Construction Management.
What we can Offer:
Support balanced work routines through flexible collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and well‑structured project governance.
Enhance your expertise through exposure to large‑scale civil, marine, and equipment delivery projects.
Contribute to long-term terminal development that directly impacts operational efficiency and sustainability.
Work in an inclusive, international environment that values knowledge sharing, professional growth, and continuous development.
