Love Every Drop. Help deliver the UK’s first Advanced Water Reuse scheme.

At Anglian Water, our purpose is to bring environmental and social prosperity to the region we serve. Our commitment to Love Every Drop underpins everything we do — balancing the needs of customers, communities, regulators and the environment while delivering long‑term, sustainable solutions.

As part of our AMP8 programme, we’re delivering an unprecedented £11bn investment across our region. This includes the UK’s first Advanced Water Reuse (AWR) scheme in Colchester — a nationally significant, first‑of‑its‑kind project that will play a key role in securing resilient water supplies for the future.

We’re now looking for an experienced Stakeholder Engagement Manager to lead engagement for this high‑profile and sensitive scheme.

What you’ll be doing

In this pivotal role, you’ll lead the end‑to‑end statutory and non‑statutory stakeholder engagement strategy for the Advanced Water Reuse project. You’ll work at the heart of the programme, shaping perceptions, building trust and supporting the consents needed to enable successful delivery.

You’ll:

  • Lead the stakeholder engagement and consultation strategy to support planning consent under the Town & Country Planning Act, including EIA‑related engagement

  • Act as a senior representative for Anglian Water with local authorities, MPs, councillors, regulators, landowners and community groups

  • Deliver clear, inclusive and transparent engagement to help communities understand and have confidence in water reuse

  • Provide stakeholder insight, risk intelligence and advice to senior leaders and programme teams

  • Manage issues and complaints sensitively and effectively, protecting Anglian Water’s reputation

  • Lead, coach and develop a small stakeholder engagement team, setting high standards and building capability

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who is confident, credible and calm under pressure, with experience engaging on complex infrastructure projects. You’ll bring:

  • Significant experience leading stakeholder and community engagement for major infrastructure schemes, ideally in regulated sectors

  • A strong understanding of the UK planning environment, including TCPA and EIA processes

  • Experience engaging on sensitive or controversial issues, building trust through transparency and clear communication

  • The ability to explain complex technical or environmental information in an accessible way

  • Strong relationship‑building skills with politicians, regulators and communities

As a valued employee, you’ll be entitled to:

  • Personal private health care

  • Virtual GP for your household

  • Bonus scheme

  • Competitive pension scheme- Anglian Water double-matches your contributions up to 6%

  • 26 days annual leave rising with length of service

  • Employee Assistance Programme

  • Excellent family friendly policies, such as 26 weeks full pay for Maternity/Adoption leave
