Professional Development & Memberships
We're committed to helping you build a career, not just gain a job. Through our two-year graduate programme, you'll experience different placements, work on real business challenges and learn from experienced colleagues across the organisation. You'll have access to a wide range of development opportunities, support towards professional qualifications and funded membership of a relevant professional institution, helping you grow your expertise and achieve professional accreditation where appropriate.
Your programme
Working within Science, you'll have the opportunity to experience the complete water journey, from source to tap and seeing first-hand how science underpins everything we do. You'll work alongside our Sampling teams, who collect thousands of samples every day to monitor the quality of our environment and ensure the water reaching customers' homes is safe and of the highest standard. You'll also gain experience in our laboratory, where we are continually exploring new and innovative ways to improve our capabilities, ensuring we use the most effective technologies and analytical instruments to deliver high-quality scientific results, that support both day-to-day operations and major investment programmes across the region.
As you develop your understanding of the business, you'll have the chance to work with our Process Science teams, whose expertise helps optimise treatment processes, support major infrastructure projects and provide critical advice to operational teams. Their work ensures we make the right decisions at the right time to protect water quality, safeguard the environment and deliver the best outcomes for customers.
You'll also gain exposure to our Strategic Science and Reporting & Analytics teams, offering a unique insight into the future of the water industry. Strategic Science works at the forefront of major capital programmes and once-in-a-generation investments that will shape our region for decades to come, while Reporting & Analytics transforms complex data into meaningful insights that drive evidence-based decisions. Whether your interests are in environmental science, laboratory analysis, process optimisation, infrastructure projects or data analytics, this is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact while building experience across a wide range of scientific disciplines.
