Salary: £32,500 – £41,000 (depending on skills and experience)
Contract: Permanent, Full-time (37 hours per week)
Location: Ideally based in the central Anglian region (Peterborough, Huntingdon , Cambridge ), with flexibility to work from home and Anglian Water offices, plus regular travel across the region.

Shape the future of water recycling – join us as a Risk Analyst!

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Water Recycling Networks (WRN) team in a new role as a Risk Analyst.

As a Risk Analyst, your primary focus will be on proactively assessing and managing operational risk across the region, with a specific focus on rising mains. While reporting to WRN, this role will be pivotal in bridging the gap between Water Recycling Networks and Water Recycling Operations (WRO) — championing holistic thinking and end-to-end risk management.

Collaborative working with colleagues at all levels — particularly local front-line teams — is at the heart of the role. By utilising and translating data, you will identify risk trends, develop a consistent picture of risk, generate recommendations for effective risk management and escalation, and seek opportunities for continuous improvement. You’ll experience a hybrid working environment with office-based work, as well as getting out and about to embed yourself within relevant local front-line teams.

This role is critical to achieving outstanding environmental protection and delivering excellent customer service across Water Recycling by improving network resilience and taking a proactive approach in everything we do.

What you’ll be doing

  • Promote holistic thinking across WRN and WRO to ensure effective, end-to-end risk management.

  • Investigate and analyse key risk areas, with a particular focus on the rising main asset class.

  • Look holistically across inter-connecting processes to coordinate data for risk management, ensuring accuracy and accessibility across the business.

  • Drive asset status capture across WRN and WRO for comprehensive risk visibility.

  • Capture and maintain risk profiles for operational changes and interventions, including monitoring KPIs related to rising main health and performance.

  • Provide clear insight and guidance on risk levels to Front Line Managers, including mitigation recommendations.

  • Collaborate with operational teams to develop mitigation plans for known risks; ensure plans are documented, updated, tracked to completion, and monitor their effectiveness.

  • Establish a risk-based methodology to assess asset condition and identify critical assets, guiding maintenance strategies.

  • Lead the integration of risk management into decision-making across WRN and WRO — focusing on maintenance, operations, and investments.

  • Own and facilitate key business processes including root cause analysis, technical asset understanding, performance cells, and improvement strategies.

What does it take to be a Risk Analyst?

  • Robust analytical abilities, capable of dissecting complex data to derive meaningful insights.

  • Confidence in translating risk-related data to operational teams in a clear, practical way, and building relationships for the best outcomes.

  • A positive, collaborative approach with a focus on the bigger picture and working as part of a wider team.

  • Experience delivering and coordinating presentations to varied audiences.

  • Knowledge of the rising main asset class and operations (desirable, not compulsory).

  • A strong drive to learn and develop understanding of new areas/processes, with an always-exploring mindset.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Power BI, Excel, Word, and SharePoint Lists, to manage and analyse information effectively.

  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in data management and risk assessment.

  • Strong evidence of stakeholder management and experience presenting to different stakeholder levels to achieve defined outcomes.

  • Prioritisation skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently and navigate competing demands.

  • Ability to adapt, challenge, and work confidently within changing environments.

  • Familiarity with SAP or Oracle (desirable).

  • Full UK driving licence is essential.
