Role: Lead Town and Country Planner
Location: Peterborough, with flexible hybrid working options
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: c £65,000

About the role:
The Lead Town & Country Planner’s key responsibility is to provide specialist planning advice and guidance, managing projects through the planning process to enable successful and efficient delivery of projects across the business
Key Responsibilities:
As a Lead Town and Country Planner, you will work closely with local planning authorities to agree planning conditions; and collaboratively with engineers and construction teams to help deliver schemes on time, on budget and with minimal environmental impact.
- Provide specialist advice on the planning requirements and manage projects through the planning process
- Prepare planning strategies, highlighting planning and environmental risk
- Prepare and submit Town & Country Planning applications including those with potential for Environmental Statements
- Manage Environmental Impact Assessment applications
- Engage with Local Planning Authorities and other relevant external stakeholders including statutory consultees prior to the submission of formal applications
- Use digital technology to drive innovation and efficiency within the Enabling Team, the wider business and local planning authorities
- Provide training and guidance on T&C Planning and Environmental matters to the Enabling Team and wider business
Essential skills and experience:
- You should be qualified at to degree level in relevant subject
- Member of RTPI or eligible to join
- Extensive experience of working in a T&C Planning role to support decision making on complex and controversial projects
- Experience of the EIA process
- Ability to work flexibly across several projects and to meet required deadlines without direct supervision
- Effective written & verbal communication, organisational & analytical skills
- Experience in writing and reviewing detailed technical reports
