Job Description

Role: Interface Engineer

Location: Hybrid-Local office or home with travel to Peterborough (WWH) and sites as required.

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Depending on experience

To help us deliver this ambitious programme, we’re looking for an operationally aware Interface Engineer who can bridge the gap between design, delivery and day to day operations.

About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to support the development and delivery of the Strategic Pipeline and other Water Resource Management Plan (WRMP) Capital Delivery Projects. Working closely with Anglian Water Operational teams and the SPA and @One Design & Delivery teams focus will be on supporting design development and ensuring risks to AW operations from construction works are fully mitigated. The Strategic Supply Integration team and this role will cover both the WRMP19 (AMP7) projects, as well as the WRMP24 (AMP8) projects.

As an Interface Engineer, you will be embedded within the SPA and @One delivery teams and working across the programme to support design development and delivery of Interface works. You will work closely with Asset Owners, Modellers, Designers, Planners, Supply Chain and Delivery teams as part of this role. Key items are-

  • Supporting delivery of projects and assuring with project teams they do not cause adverse customer, environmental or operational impacts by being responsible for impact plan production. Communicate plans clearly across teams and verify mitigation measures are in place before and during delivery.
  • Taking a balanced view of operational and project delivery needs and promoting collaboration between operational and SPA teams.
  • Support design teams in gathering information to base the design on and providing operational expertise to assess if the design will meet AW requirements from a safety, maintenance and control perspective.
  • Where directed, actively participating in Design reviews, HAZOPS, site hygiene visits, and progress meetings with operational and project stakeholders to support effective delivery.

This role gives a great opportunity to develop awareness of construction activities in the capital delivery environment, project management skills by owning elements of work, and stakeholder engagement skills by bringing key stakeholders together to sign up to complex operational activities.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Proactive, collaborative and approachable with excellent communication skills.
  • Planning and organisational skills demonstrating working to key programme milestones.
  • Provide operational experience to assist the Delivery teams in development of design and constructability of assets
  • Ensuring key stakeholder such as the AW operational teams are appropriately included in developments to existing and new assets.
  • Ensure learning and best practice is incorporated into plans. Ability to capture and ensure best practice and lessons learned are embedded in future work activities
  • Excellent Health & Safety, Environment and Customers Service understanding and awareness. Ensuring these items are at the forefront of any work that is being undertaken.
