Dive into a world of opportunity!

We work to make the experiences our customers have with us better, every single day.

Make every drop of your potential count!

Development Services Representative (DSR)

Do you enjoy meeting people, getting out and about and doing something a little different each day? Would you like the chance to learn some new skills, see another side of Anglian Water and play a part in protecting the drainage network we're building for the future?

If that sounds interesting, we've got a 12-month secondment opportunity in our Drainage Field Team that could be just what you're looking for.

So, what does the job involve?

As a Development Services Representative, you'll spend much of your time out on site, working with developers, contractors and customers who are building new drainage assets, connecting to our network, diverting existing sewers or planning work close to our assets.

You'll be helping customers understand what's needed, checking that work is being carried out to the right standards and making sure the drainage assets we take responsibility for are safe, reliable and built to last.

It's an important job. Once we adopt new drainage assets, they become part of our network, and we need to be confident they're going to do the job they're designed to do. Spotting a problem early, asking the right questions or making sure something is put right before we adopt it can prevent much bigger problems for our customers, the environment and the business further down the line.

You'll also help investigate issues such as unwanted water entering drainage systems or potential pollution risks, working with colleagues and contractors to get things resolved properly.

And because you're often the person our customers meet face to face, you'll have a real opportunity to shape their experience of Anglian Water. Sometimes that means explaining something technical in a way that's easy to understand, sometimes it means helping someone work through a problem, and sometimes it means having a more challenging conversation when something isn't right.

Who are we looking for?

You don't need to be a drainage expert to apply. We'll provide the training, guidance and support you need to develop the technical knowledge and confidence for the role.

What we're really looking for is someone who enjoys working with people, is curious, willing to learn and takes pride in doing things properly.

You'll need to be happy working independently, organising your time and taking responsibility for the work you're doing. You'll also need to be comfortable asking questions, making decisions and speaking up when something doesn't look right.

We're not expecting you to know all the answers on day one. What matters is that you're willing to learn, listen, work with others and do the right thing, even when that means having a difficult conversation.

Safety is a big part of this role. You'll be visiting active development sites and working around construction activity, so looking after yourself and those around you will always come first. We'll make sure you're properly trained and supported to work safely.

Why might this be a good opportunity for you?

A 12-month secondment is a great chance to try something different, develop new skills and gain experience that you might not get in your current role.

You'll learn more about how our drainage network is built, how we work with developers and why the decisions we make on site matter long after the construction work has finished.

You'll also get to meet a wide range of people, work through some interesting challenges and be part of a friendly, experienced team who'll help you settle in.

There's a real sense of satisfaction in knowing you've helped a customer, solved a problem or spotted something that could have caused issues further down the line.

Interested?

If you enjoy working with people, fancy spending more time out and about and would like to challenge yourself with something new, we'd love to hear from you.

And if you're interested but not sure whether you've got the right experience, please don't rule yourself out. Get in touch for a chat and we can talk through what the role involves.

You might find it's just the opportunity you've been looking for.

We invest in our people - as a valued employee, you’ll be entitled to:

  • Personal private health care
  • Generous double match pension – contribute 7% and Anglian Water will contribute 14%, giving a total contribution of 21%

  • Extremely organised
  • Happy to stand in front of customers multiples times a day to discuss drainage applications
  • Working knowledge of sewerage system design and sewerage law is ideal, but not essential
