Job Description:

The aviation IT & EFB Administrator is responsible for managing the technological ecosystem that supports our Approved Training Organization (ATO) operations. This hybrid role bridges aviation operations and IT, ensuring that flight crews and trainees have reliable, up-to-date hardware (corporate iPads) and critical aviation software (such as FlySmart by Airbus). Additionally, this role drives operational efficiency by managing local networks, deploying web solutions, and developing custom applications using Google Workspace ecosystem and Google Apps Script.

Responsibilities

Aviation Software & EFB Administration

  • Software Updates & Compliance: Ensure all operational software is strictly maintained to the latest approved versions, adhering to aviation regulatory standards.
  • FlySmart & Navigation Charts: Manage the deployment and regular updating of Airbus FlySmart applications, electronic navigation charts (e.g. Jeppesen, Navigraph), and aircraft performance databases.
  • Troubleshooting: Serve as the primary point of contact for resolving software glitches, sync issues, or data discrepancies on EFB devices.

Device & Asset Management

  • Provisioning & Deployment: Configure, deploy, and manage the lifecycle of corporate iPads used as Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs) by crew and ATO staff.
  • Mobile Device Management (MDM): Utilize MDM solutions to enforce security policies, push updates, and remotely wipe or lock lost devices.
  • Asset Tracking: Maintain an accurate, real-time inventory of all devices, tracking assignments, hardware health, and replacement schedules.

ATO Network & Device Management

  • Network Administration: Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot Wi-Fi connections within the ATO facility to ensure uninterrupted access for operational and training devices.
  • Access Control: Ensure secure and reliable network authentication for both corporate-issued and authorized bring-you (BYOD) devices.
  • Infrastructure Support: Act as the on-site technical liaison for resolving local connectivity outages or hardware issues affecting the ATO.

Web Deployment & Operational Support (Google Tools)

  • Website Management: Deploy, maintain, and modify internal operational websites and portals using Google Sites and the broader Google Workspace suite.
  • Content Updates: Collaborate with ATO management to ensure training schedules, operational bulletins and safety notices are accurately reflected internal web platforms.
  • Access Management: Manage user permissions, shared drives, and resources access within the Google Workspace environment.

Application Development & Automation (Google Apps Script)

  • Custom Tool Design: Design, build, and deploy custom applications and workflows using Google Apps Script to solve ATO-specific operational challenges.
  • Process Automation: Automate routine administrative tasks (e.g., equipment sign-outs, training log updates, notification systems) by integrating Google Sheets, Forms, Docs, and Gmail.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify bottlenecks in ATO administrative processes and propose technological solutions using the Google developer ecosystem.

Personal Skills

  • IT & Systems: Proven experience in Mobile Device Management (MDM) for Apple iOS/iPad OS and managing corporate Wi-Fi networks.
  • Aviation Knowledge: Familiarity with Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) administration, Airbus FlySmart, and digital navigation chart cycles (AIRAC). Experience within an airline, charter operator, or ATO is highly preferred.
  • Google Workspace Expert: High proficiency in Google Sites, Google Workspace administration, and cloud-based file management.
  • Programming/Development: Demonstrated capability in writing, debugging, and deploying Google Apps Script (JavaScript-based) to build custom functions and automate workflows.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving skills, high attention to detail (critical for aviation compliance), and excellent communication skills to support non-technical flight crew and training staff.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Technical Translation: The ability to articulate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly language for non-technical users.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Proven track record of seamless communication and collaboration with non-technical departments, such as Instructors and Scheduling personnel.
  • Proactive Troubleshooting: A dedicated support-oriented approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges faced by frontline personnel (Instructors).
  • Collaborative Support: A highly cooperative attitude toward organizational training initiatives and support workflows.

Qualifications & Professional Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management or a related field and/or skills in a technical aviation field
  • Adaptable to new IT systems and skills. Proficient in using Google Suite products.
  • Self-starters who can work unsupervised with limited directions from management, and effectively work with external clients to address their training needs and requirements in a timely manner.
  • Ability to identify areas of improvement to current systems and procedures to ensure the ATO maintains the high levels of technical support and quality-driven training materials.
  • Proficient in both English and Korean.
