JOB DESCRIPTION

Team Description:

The Maintenance Team at Airbus India primarily works on topics like maintenance systems of tomorrow for the aircraft, designing the BITE specifications for the systems, providing the customization mods needed for the aircraft, and solutions to improve the maturity of systems. Key competencies include System Engineering topics like Requirements engineering, configuration management, V&V, etc. along with exposure to wireless protocols, aerospace standards & basics of MBSE. Team works with legacy aircrafts (Commercial) and is also engaged on Airbus Skywise (the singular access point to data analytics) utilizing Big Data, Java & Python skills to create dashboards & applications to analyze Maintenance data. We are a team strongly invested in R & T initiatives that are dedicated to supporting future aircraft health needs. This team is part of Advanced Engineering & System Studies, a department that works on providing simulations means for most aircraft systems and industrial needs through the application of systems engineering, MBSE, certification abilities etc

Job Responsibilities:

We are looking for a System Engineer who would be primarily responsible for the Built-In Test Equipment (BITE) function installed on several aircraft systems. We seek who are self-motivated and driven to work with multiple stakeholders. BITE supports the Airbus maintainability concept to minimize unscheduled maintenance time on ground by assisting maintenance operators in better failure isolation. In this role, you would be required to understand BITE and apply or support to apply on several aircraft systems, and work on queries from design offices and suppliers on BITE. You will be considered as one of the main contact points for BITE related topics across Airbus, globally.

The job demands the following:

  • To develop impeccable knowledge on the BITE concept and its implementation in several aircraft systems.
  • Ability to learn and understand different aircraft systems and the interfaces between them (Communication protocols and other aspects).
  • Ability to clearly communicate with stakeholders - Design Offices of other systems, Suppliers and other stakeholders involved in the design process.
  • Good understanding of aircraft maintenance operations.
  • Ability to think from a maintenance operator perspective.
  • In-service queries from Airlines on failures and its troubleshooting.
  • Identify collaboration opportunities with Skywise platform (aircraft data analytics) and with other design offices related to aircraft maintenance with a proactive approach.
  • Technical support to system engineers/designers from different system design offices and suppliers for correct implementation of BITE in their systems.
  • Proof-reading of different system design and lab test specification documents.
  • Proof-reading and support on BITE aspects of lab test reports from different design offices which include problem reports.
  • Validation of modifications of BITE function of the existing system and following configuration management.
  • Managing fault related maintenance data in in-house repository tools.

Required Experience and Skills :

  • B.Tech./B.E./M.Tech./M.E. in Aerospace/Electronics & Communications/Mechanical or related engineering.
  • Good understanding of at least one aircraft system. Knowledge in the development of one or more aircraft systems preferably on onboard maintenance systems would be an advantage.
  • Good understanding of communication protocols - A429, MIL, AFDX, Ethernet, CAN and transmission modes.
  • Knowledge on SAE ARP 4754 & 4761 Standards.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one scripting language, preferably Python and Java, would be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various workflows in an end to end product development with a system/system-of-systems environment is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English with engineers, management and non-engineering support staff.
  • Familiarity with the Agile/SAFe process.

Nice to Have :

  • Excellent analytical skills and proven ability to solve problems creatively.
  • Interest in Data Science will be considered a plus point.
  • Knowledge on Google Suite.
  • Knowledge on Jira
  • Proficiency in additional languages (French, German, Regional).
  • INCOSE certification on Systems Engineering is an added advantage.
