An opportunity for an Space Systems Functional Avionics Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid). Airbus Space division in Madrid is Spanish Leader Company for developing and manufacturing complex space systems.

Airbus DS was selected in 2020 as prime of LSTM mission, being the first Spanish company to lead the development of a Copernicus satellite for ESA. Recently, Airbus DS has also signed a contract for development of PAZ2 satellites, the most advance Earth Observation satellites ever designed and built in Spain.

The selected Avionics engineer will contribute to several of functional avionics disciplines. At short-term the selected engineer will support on FV and FDIR activities of LSTM mission. In mid-term support of on the same domains in PAZ2 mission. He/she will work in a multi-disciplinary engineering team and will contribute to the on-cost, on-time and on-quality product delivery to customer.

Beyond LSTM and PAZ2, he/she could participate in preparing new proposals for constellation satellites and be involved in a multidisciplinary functional avionics team covering very different systems:, On-board SW development, simulations development, AOCS, FV, Operations

The selected engineer will benefit of working together in close relation not only with other FA systems but also with other disciplines as MTP, electrical and system engineering that will widen the satellite system view.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Under the coordination of the FA lead, manage all technical aspects related to functional activities, with especial focus validation and verification activities
  • Support the technical follow-up of the subcontracted equipment development in functional, including their embedded HW/SW sub-developments, and in the assessment of technical risks and RFD/RFW.
  • Coordinate with AIT Team in the definition and technical follow-up of the required test systems, in the preparation of system integration and test activities, and in the review of test reports, with especial focus on functional tests.
  • Support the Quality Team in the investigation of anomalies and non-conformances, providing technical support in NRBs.
  • Elaborate technical documentation, deliver technical presentations, and contribute to technical proposals.
  • Support the project technical reviews, and conduct and lead the technical reviews to equipment suppliers.
  • Work in close collaboration with other engineering disciplines (e.g. thermal, mechanical, harness) involved in the system development throughout the whole lifecycle.

SKILLS

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Educated to degree level in Aerospace or Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
  • Proven professional experience required minimum [5-10 years] in:
    • Space system projects
    • Requirements management
    • Subcontractor technical management
  • Proven experience required in the following space activities
    • Functional verification
    • FDIR
  • Programming experience in Matlab/Simulink and C
  • English advanced level.
  • Will be appreciated:
    • Experience in requirements management with confluence/ jira.
    • Experience on SRDB or OPS
