We at Airbus Defence and Space in Ottobrunn are looking for a Project Management Office Lead (PMO Lead) for the are Connected Intelligence / Space Digital / Secure Connectivity DACH.
You will be part of a high value programme for the German customer requiring a strong, skilled and highly motivated multifunctional team. You will join the PMO and Delivery Support team and act as PMO Lead for this programme. In this role, you will report hierarchically to the line manager which is the Head of PMO and Delivery Support and operationally to the Project Manager.

A PMO Lead drives organisational success by defining strong project standards and providing strategic, data-driven oversight to ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget and aligned with business goals. He/she is a member of the project team, an empowered co-pilot who proactively drives the different Project Management processes together with the Project Manager and with the support of the PMO team - for the various disciplines of project management such as:
- Project governance and communication
- Integrated planning
- Risk and opportunity management
- Preparation of reviews
- Internal and external reporting
- Programme monitoring
Your key responsibilities
- Project Governance: Maintaining the Project Management Plan and associated relevant project documentation and ensuring adherence to this plan. Developing and enforcing standardized methodologies, best practices, templates, and frameworks for project execution.
- Leadership & Team Set-up: Leading, organising and coordinating the project management office team, fostering a culture of accountability.
- Stakeholder Communication: Acting as a key liaison between project team, transversal functions, upper management and customers to ensure alignment and satisfaction at all levels.
- Performance Monitoring: Reporting on project progress, analyzing quality metrics, and proactively addressing performance issues.
- Process Improvement: Continuously optimizing processes to enhance project delivery speed, quality, and efficiency.
Desired skills and qualifications
- Project Management Expertise: Deep knowledge of project management processes and methodologies. Experience as project manager or lead PMO is a must. Experience in Customer Services would be an asset.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Guiding teams and cultivating talent. Ability to steer an operational team of project management officers towards project success.
- Communication & Relationship Management: Building trust and managing stakeholders effectively. Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Strategic Thinking & Data-Centric Decision Making: Utilizing data to support informed decisions and align projects with broader organizational goals.
- Prior experience with our main Customer (Bundeswehr, German Armed Forces) would be a plus.
- Additionally: You have a very good command of German and English (written and spoken) - German proficiency is mandatory
- You are able to get security clearances (GE national)
