General Responsibilities

  • The Satellite AIT ME Engineer is the AIT ME Project focal point, works on cross multi-functional teams to provide a consolidated Industrial Product definition: product (part detail definition), processes (manufacturing and integration in the shopfloor) and including the Industrial Means detail definition.


Bid Phase Responsabilities

  • Attend and/or support reviews led by the bid manager / Spacecraft Production Proposal Manager.
  • Works on cross multi-functional teams to provide a definition of the Bid’s Industrial Model (covering from top level build process, technological manufacturing solutions, Industrial means sizing)
  • Provide Inputs to Bid Industrial Planning: sequence of activities, estimated lead times, restrictions & estimated type and number of resources.
  • Provide Inputs of recurring & non-recurring costs associated with the industrial model.
  • Support the creation of the Bid documentation (technical volume, dossier / report of the Industrial model


Industrialization Phase Responsabilities

  • Attend and/or support reviews led by the Program Manager/ Industrial Manager.
  • Attend and/or support the PFMEA, DMU reviews, Project Concurrent MFTs with Design Engineering, Industrial Means, Quality and Production to ensure that design solution is feasible and gits the industrial system.
  • Attend inputs preparation meeting to define and ensure KIDs for product / project are fit for Manufacture (Design for manufacturing, DFM)
  • Define/Support the Build Process, re-enforce and ensure a correct & consolidated process definition:
  • Industrial Product definition in the context of Collaborative Engineering: product (part detail definition), processes (manufacturing and assembly) and Industrial Means detail definition. Detailed simulation of the process (precedents, restrictions, areas, etc.)
  • Harness routing analysis: accessibility, feasibility and compatibility with the overall hardware integration sequence.
  • Identify needs and specific requirements for industrial assets (jigs, tools, tooling, machines)
  • Consider inputs from PFMEA and H&S general regulations and local advises.
  • Ensure M&P selection according to its approval status.
  • Update & agreement of the final Product Structure (As-Planned).
  • Update and agreement of specifications for Delivered Components (delivery conditions) and work specifications.
  • Build Process Consolidation and agreement with relevant stakeholders and production area.
  • Provide Inputs to Industrial Planning: Build process (precedents, restrictions, areas, etc.) balancing of the line, adjustment of process times and skills and estimated lead times.
  • Provide Inputs of recurring & non-recurring costs associated with the industrial model.
  • Provide Supplier Industrialization Support:
  • Technical support for the Manufacture/Purchase strategy.
  • Technical management in the development of supplier work packages
  • Technical management of bids, and selecting and contracting products (parts, assemblies, groups) from suppliers.
  • Manage the creation of the Industrialization documentation (Built Process studies / Process Flows & Budget / Supplier WPs...)


Work Preparation Phase Responsabilities

  • Attend and/or support project meetings / reviews led by the Program Manager.
  • Attend to Production/AIT go-meetings (freeze meetings) as MRR and IRR.
  • Manage the creation of:
  • BOM - Support for list creation with MDO and update As-prepared BOM with auxiliary materials and flight & non-flight material quantities.
  • Routing preparation (As-Prepared) - Create & update complete flows for standard activities including tests and inspections points (KIP, MIPs).
  • Work instructions and procedures, data collection documents (as run, electrical test files,...) and participation on External documentation (user manuals) review or preparation.
  • MRR / IRR Datapack: Routing & applicable documentation (instructions, procedures, flows)
  • Update Inputs to Industrial Planning: Build process (precedents, restrictions, areas, etc.) balancing of the line, adjustment of process times and skills and estimated lead times.
  • Update Inputs of recurring & non-recurring costs associated with the industrial model.


Operations Phase Responsibilities

  • Attend and/or support SQCD Panels Daily meetings at shopfloor, PPS meetings, schedule reviews and Recovery Plans.
  • Provide Technical shopfloor support for BBs, engineering, qualification and flight models:
  • Follow up execution of shopfloor activities
  • Support to operation (applicable documentation understanding, specific analysis....)
  • Configuration and improvement of the design of the product, the industrial process and resources.
  • Technical support for pending work: impact reduction and technical solutions
  • Methods and processes support
  • Provide timely feedback to appropriate managers on ME issues.
  • Review of real recurring & non-recurring costs and identify / analyse deviations.
  • Maintenance of Applicable documentation (Work instructions, Technical Instructions, Procedures, Data collection documents...)
  • Support Assessment of Non-Conformances. Track & Answer Non-Conformance Process Flow.
  • Support Lessons Learned exercises at key milestones involving all key stakeholders in development phase
