Material and Process Engineer - Failure Analysis & material testing

Join Materials, Processes & Test department

- To perform Failure analysis of aircraft parts

- To qualify test laboratories for Airbus test methods

- To Lead material test campaigns

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive failure investigations on metallic and non-metallic aircraft parts
  • Perform high-resolution imaging and elemental analysis using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM) and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS).
  • Prepare and examine cross-sections using Metallurgical Microscopes to evaluate grain structures, plating thickness, and heat treatment integrity.
  • To define test plan and qualify Test laboratories globally for Airbus test methods
  • Be responsible for maintenance of existing laboratory facilities and working towards adding new equipment from time to time.
  • Shall be responsible for putting in place quality systems along with their implementation, maintenance and improvements.
  • Lead test campaign along with the technical report & analysis as requested by the customers are carried out keeping in mind the Time, Cost & Quality expectations (TCQ)
  • Define Materials and Processes test requirements through technical documentation such as Work Instructions, Standard operation procedure etc
  • To propose and lead various digitalization & automation projects within the perimeter of laboratory domain.
  • Contribute to overall Materials and process activities managed at Airbus India

Who We Are Looking For

  • Hands-on experience in aerospace materials & component testing along with analysis of the test results.
  • Hands-on experience in Operating Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopes for fracture surface morphology (fractography).
  • Expertise in precision cutting, mounting, grinding, and polishing of aerospace samples, using metallurgical microscope and stereomicroscope.
  • Ability to identify failure modes such as fatigue striations, stress corrosion cracking (SCC) etc
  • Exposure to mechanical testing of metals and composite materials.
  • Basic understanding of statistical methods, process capability studies and experience in DOE related softwares like JMP, Minitab etc
  • Exposure to Implementation & qualification of Labs and special processes coupon testing.
  • Good knowledge of ISO17025.
  • Thorough understanding of Metallic & Non-metallic Materials international testing standards (ASTM, AMS, EN, BS etc).
  • Thorough knowledge on special processes - surface treatment, chemical conversion coatings, paints related testing.
  • Ability to read manufacturing / design drawings / BoMs and understand the technical and test requirements.
  • Strong Project Management skills in a multicultural environment.
  • You have a Bachelors or Master degree or PhD in Metallurgy/ Material Engineering/ mechanical or equivalent
  • With 3-5 Years’ of relevant experience
  • Good professional experiences in the area of metals and its application in Aircrafts
  • Excellent communication.
