In order to support current and future projects, Airbus Helicopters is looking for a

IT Project Manager within the Digital team “Scientific Computing” (d/f/m)

The IT Project Manager role reports directly to the Team Leader and is tasked with executing key projects in the area of Scientific Computing and Simulations.

This includes High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure, pre- and post-processing, predictive applications, data management and other solutions in the simulation toolchain. Scientific Computing is part of the E2E development domain, which provides digital solutions for the entire end-to-end development process of our helicopters.

Your location

At our Donauwörth site, located on the banks of the river Danube, we develop helicopters from the initial idea to the airworthy product. Watch them take off and touch down on our own on-site test airfield.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Manage the full IT project lifecycle using the Airbus Helicopters Waterfall and Agile methodology
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities in parallel
  • Define project scope, architecture, planning and costs
  • Execute projects of medium to high technical complexity and budget for the different Airbus Helicopters sites
  • Produce relevant deliverables to pass project milestones
  • Ensure projects are delivered on-cost, on-time and on-quality
  • Anticipate and mitigate project risks to secure the critical project path
  • Involve and communicate to all relevant stakeholders including management, business, other teams in Digital as well as other Airbus divisions
  • Ensure data compliance and data security are fully taken into account in the project


Desired skills and qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Project Management, or a related field, plus a recognized certification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP)
  • Several years of experience leading IM projects, ideally within Airbus or cross-divisional environments
  • Solid understanding of both Waterfall and Agile (ideally SAFE Agile) methodologies
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-layered IT projects involving hardware, middleware, and software
  • Familiarity with technologies such as HPC, Linux, Virtualization (VDI/Citrix), DevOps, Python, or simulation tools (CFD/FEM) is a strong plus
  • Strong coordination and multitasking skills with a proactive, accountable mindset
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including negotiation and vendor coordination
  • Fluent in English, with a collaborative spirit and strong customer orientation
