Job Description:

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for an Industrial Support Senior Managar to join our team based in Kinston, NC.

The Industrial Support Senior Manager acts as the Deputy Head of Operations , serving as a strategic partner and "right-hand" to the Senior Director of Operations. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, daily performance objective planning, steering the vision for the Sub-Assy & Detail Parts facility, and ensuring daily alignment between Production, Quality, Planning, and Supply. The position involves transitioning from simple data analysis to an overall performance management approach, managing large-scale projects, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Your Working Environment:
The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. Our team builds critical components for the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar.

Your Challenges:

1. Steering Operational Performance & Analysis: 35%

• KPI Management: Develop, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics across supply, logistics, and production.

• Data-Driven Decisions: Conduct deep-dive analysis to identify inefficiencies, root causes, and potential solutions for performance below targets.

• Reporting: Design and maintain Sub-Assy & Detail Parts Operations dashboards for executive-level review. • External Liaison: Act as a negotiator with the Main Assembly and external customers

2. Strategy & Process Improvement: 35%

• Continuous Improvement: Design and lead operational improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies.

Standardization: Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best practices.

• Cross-Functional Leadership: Steer multi-disciplinary teams (ME, Quality, IT, Logistics) toward unified strategic objectives. • Operational Agility: Support the deployment of "poly-poly" (multi-skilling) strategies to enhance resource flexibility

3. Competitiveness & Financial Stewardship: 25%

• Cost Reduction: Monitor operational costs and achieve "factor 4 to 2" reduction targets by the end of 2027. • Budgeting: Orchestrate annual OpEx and CapEx planning and propose forecasts based on performance goals. • Coaching: Provide best practices and coaching on performance methodologies to Team Leads and Production Line Managers.

Additional Responsibilities: 5%

• Governance: Organize and chair daily L3 SQCDP meetings and monthly/yearly performance reviews. Qualified Experience and Training:

Your Boarding Pass:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Management
  • 10-15 years of experience with a proven track record of managing large production teams and implementing large-scale operational improvement projects.
  • 5-7 years specifically within the aeronautic industry
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent project management, and the ability to present complex findings to diverse audiences in English
  • Expertise in change management and industrial crisis management
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings to diverse audiences
  • Deep knowledge on how to manage an industrial manufacturing site
  • Travel - Less than 10%

Preferred

  • MBA preferred
  • Expertise in aeronautic structures or mechanical engineering
  • Experience on Airbus products
  • Project management

• Eligible for employment in the US

Physical Requirements:

• Onsite or remote: 100% on site

• Vision: able to see and read daily computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.

• Hearing: able to hear, to participate daily in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.

• Speaking: able to speak daily in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate daily most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.

• Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Not applicable • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Not applicable • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Not applicable • Sitting: able to sit daily for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.

• Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Not applicable • Standing: able to stand daily for discussions in offices or on the production floor.

• Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Not applicable

• Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk daily through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.

• Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site

• Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visit, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
