Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Human Factors Specialist (m/f) to join our oin aircraft cockpit design Department in Toulouse, France.

The team's mission is to contribute to the safety and operational efficiency of our customers, by ensuring that human performance and limitations are integrated into its research, development, certification, production, and customer support activities for its products, services, and processes. Safety and human beings are at the core of our mission, with the objective of minimizing crew workload and error risks, producing effective responses to normal and abnormal situations, and enhancing pilot task performance.

You will evolve within a department of approximately 30 human factors specialists and experts, with highly diverse profiles in terms of nationality (about 10 different nationalities), education and professional experience, age, and gender. They are all highly qualified in one or more human factors discipline(s), such as cognitive ergonomics, neuroscience, linguistics, or physical ergonomics. Our department covers a wide variety of projects, ranging from minor evolutions on existing products to major Research and Technology (R&T) projects to prepare the next generation of cockpits.

Your challenges:

  • Provide Human Factors expertise on critical and complex cockpit layouts, functions, technologies, and operations, working within a multidisciplinary team composed of pilots, designers, training center representatives, safety specialists, and various design office experts.
  • Analyze needs and factors influencing human performance, develop recommendations to be integrated into the design of existing fleets or future products, and conduct the relevant Human Factors evaluations.
  • Lead projects with partners and universities aimed at developing scientific knowledge to continuously enhance aviation safety.
  • Represent Airbus in international working groups addressing regulatory evolution or safety improvement initiatives.

Your boarding pass:

  • Background in Human Factors applied to User Experience (UX), with specific knowledge of human behavior (perception, comprehension, problem-solving) and its characteristics (impact of fatigue, stress, workload, situational awareness, experience, skill, motivation, personality...) as well as Human Factors methods applied to the design of complex systems.
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems and flight operations, and knowledge of Human Factors certification regulations applied to commercial (large-scale) aircraft.
  • Extensive experience in the aviation field: airlines, manufacturers, or aviation authorities, and/or a pilot’s license are a significant asset.
  • Ability to express, justify, and defend a position in difficult situations.
  • Negotiation level in English.
