In order to support the Next Generation Programme , Airbus Commercial is looking for a

Fuselage Industrial Architect for future aircraft (d/f/m)

You will be embedded within the R&T Fuselage Industrial Architects department to support the Lead Fuselage Industrial Architect. The role of the Industrial Architect is to deliver an optimized Industrial System Concept capable of meeting expected performances, through special studies, analysis, and trade-offs. You will secure the consideration of industrial aspects in the Aircraft definition and support the design of the Industrial System in synchronization with the Aircraft design, increasing maturity throughout early development. You will drive the formulation, challenge, and validation of industrial requirements, the Verification and Validation (V&V) plan including concept demonstrators, and the cascade of all associated requirements for the detailed Industrial System definition.

You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Co-Designing an optimized Industrial System and Aircraft with your Engineering colleagues.
  • Defining the Industrial Baseline Dossier (IBD) for all sections of the fuselage.
  • Driving the progress of relevant fuselage Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) and Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRLs) content, ensuring expected deliverables comply with required criteria.
  • Managing and coordinating activities related to Industrial System and Built process definition and validation for the scope covering Metallic and Composite Elementary parts up to Constituent Assembly.
  • Improving the Figures of Merit (FoMs) of the industrial system by identifying the main cost drivers.
  • Integrating major efficiency drivers for the Industrial System (e.g., CnQ, serial inefficiencies, REX, ind. Product lines, NPI...).
  • Representing the industrial fuselage architect community towards programs and teaming with the plant customer on pre-industrial accelerator projects.
  • Being a key leader, interacting with Programs, Plants & Final Assembly Lines (FALs), Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Finance, and Technology teams.


Desired skills and qualifications

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Technology, or a similar field of study.
  • Solid experience in factory planning, industrial lean line design, and system engineering.
  • Deep knowledge of metallic and composite materials, parts manufacturing, and related processes.
  • Proficient knowledge in industrial requirement management, business improvement fundamentals, and build concepts.
  • Proven project management skills in large and international matrix organizations.
  • Experience with Aircraft structural assembly.
  • Business fluency in English. German, French, or Spanish language skills are a plus.
