A vacancy for a Mission Management System Engineer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Helicopters in Marignane.

Mission
You will join a team of 60+ system engineers in the "Situational Awareness and Mission Management" department in charge of terrain/weather/traffic awareness functions, vision enhancement and targeting systems, data-links as well as mission management systems
for all Airbus (e-)VTOL products.

Your mission will consist of system engineering activities and helicopter level integration of Mission Management Systems. You will oversee the integration of software applications onto distributed processing resources within advanced helicopter avionics.

This role involves designing, developing, and validating the complete system architecture to ensure robust performance and operational effectiveness.

• This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognised authorities.
• Priority will be given to employees whose position is impacted by a workforce adaptation initiative.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Architect System Solutions: Define the overall system architecture for integrating mission software onto distributed, embedded avionics platforms. You'll ensure the design is scalable, reliable, and meets mission-critical performance requirements. Support the implementation of open system architecture standards (e.g. OMS, SOSA, FACE) to secure modularity and flexibility.
  • Manage Resources: Oversee the allocation of software applications to various processing resources, balancing computational loads and ensuring real-time performance.
  • Integrate and Validate: Lead the technical integration activities, defining interfaces and ensuring seamless communication across the system's networks. You will be responsible for the verification and validation of the integrated mission system.
  • Ensure Compliance: Guarantee the system adheres to critical avionics standards and safety regulations.
  • Liaise with Stakeholders: Collaborate closely with software developers, hardware engineers, and operational experts to translate mission needs into technical specifications and ensure the final system meets the operational usage demands of the flight crew.


Required Skills

  • Operational Insight: A deep understanding of the operational usage of mission systems and how aircrews interact with avionics in real-world scenarios.
  • System Architecture: Demonstrated expertise in designing complex, high-integrity systems
  • Processing & Networks: Strong knowledge of embedded processing resources and avionics network protocols (e.g., AFDX, Ethernet, ...).
  • Software Architecture: Proficient in distributed and modular software architecture principles, enabling flexible and reusable components.
  • Software Technologies: A solid understanding of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and non Real time OS, virtualization (hypervisors), and data distribution services (e.g., DDS).
  • Avionics Standards: Familiarity with relevant industry standards and certification processes (e.g. DO-254, DO-178C, ARINC 653, MOSA)
  • Systems Engineering: Knowledge in systems engineering, requirements engineering and integration in the field of avionics
  • Team Spirit, good communication skills and experience in stakeholder management
  • Language skills: English business fluent / negotiation level, knowledge of German, French or Spanish would be an advantage
