Job Description:

A vacancy for a System Design Specialist in Tactical Datalink and Mission Management Systems has arisen within Airbus Helicopters in Marignane.

You will join a team of 65+ engineers in the "Situational Awareness and Mission Management" department in charge of terrain/weather/threats/traffic awareness functions, vision enhancement and targeting systems, data-links as well as mission management
systems for all (e-)VTOLs.

Your mission will consist of system engineering activities and helicopter level integration of mission management systems interfaced with many contributor systems for civil and military helicopters.

Your tasks & responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Elaboration of operational concepts and use cases for Tactical Datalinks and Mission Management Systems
  • Derive customer needs from external (end users) and internal customers (Program, Marketing, Support ...)
  • Requirement engineering, system specification and design
  • Definition of integration, verification and validation strategy
  • Support to rig, ground and flight testing of the resp. system
  • Ensure system qualification and certification at H/C level
  • Supplier management (pro-active control and monitor) to secure technical requirements of development contracts
  • Ensure project execution in accordance with overall H/C level planning
  • Stakeholder management with relevant stakeholders throughout the organization e.g. project and program management, procurement, sales etc.
  • Participate in offer management and contributing to product sourcing policy
  • Application of modern ways of working and agile development methodology where applicable
  • Benchmark state-of-the-art mission management systems and datalink technologies
  • Active contribution to definition of implementation roadmap and product strategy for Mission Management systems
  • Supporting knowledge exchange within Airbus (all divisions) and outside
  • Represent Airbus at conferences & standardization groups


Required skills and qualifications
You have the following skills and experience

  • Academic studies in the field of Physics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar
  • Experience in the operational use of tactical datalinks and mission management systems
  • Comprehensive understanding of Systems Engineering methodologies and experience in application
  • Experience in system design, development, engineering and/or integration of complex avionics systems
  • Knowledge in systems engineering, requirements engineering and integration in the field of avionics
  • Leadership skills including advise/influence technical trade-offs, capture and spread knowledge, work in a network within Airbus group and outside
  • A previous experience with agile methodology (Scrum, SAFe) would be beneficial
  • Experience in Supplier Management
  • Team Spirit, good communication skills and experience in stakeholder management
  • Language skills: English business fluent / negotiation level, knowledge of German, French or Spanish would be an advantage
