In order to manage current and future projects, Airbus Helicopters is looking for you to join the team in Donauwörth as soon as possible as our new Avionics Systems Engineer (m/f/d) for display system integration / Function and System Design Responsible (m/f/d) for Optronics.

You will join a team of 55 people in the "Situational Awareness and Mission Management" department in charge of terrain/weather/threats/traffic awareness functions, vision enhancement and targeting systems, data-links as well as mission management systems for all (e-)VTOLs. Your mission will consist of supporting system engineering activities and helicopter level integration of optronic systems (e.g. Augmented Reality Systems, Enhanced Vision Systems, Electro-optical Systems) with a special focus on the integration of Helmed Mounted Display systems (HMD) in civil and military helicopters.

Your location

At our Donauwörth site, located on the banks of the river Danube, we develop helicopters from the initial idea to the airworthy product. Watch them take off and touch down on our own on-site test airfield.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the functional and system design of optronic systems
  • Definition of the functional chains
  • Development of requirements
  • Collaboration with project management, purchasing, sales and other project stakeholders across the company
  • Collaboration with management of suppliers and customers
  • Application of agile development methodology
  • Coordination/ensuring planning at equipment and helicopter level for development and qualification
  • Participation in offer management and involvement in product procurement policy
  • Evaluation of supplier offers with other stakeholders
  • Coordination/proactive management and monitoring of suppliers during the development phase with the aim of ensuring technical requirements
  • Collection and sharing of optronic system market solutions
  • Ensuring qualification/certification of equipment and corresponding functions
  • Support with rig, ground and flight tests
  • Support with knowledge sharing within Airbus group
  • This role may require occasional business travels


Desired skills and qualifications

  • Completed study degree in the fields of physics, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering or comparable
  • Knowledge of systems engineering, requirements engineering and integration in the field of avionics
  • Experience in conception, development and integration, ideally in the field of helicopters/aircrafts
  • Knowledge of optronic systems isa plus (e.g. Augmented Reality Systems, Enhanced Vision Systems, Electro-optical Systems, Helmet Mounted Display Systems)
  • Good communication and team player skills
  • Experience in stakeholder management and project coordination is preferable
  • Language skills: English: business level/fluent; G erman/French/Spanish: desirable
