This position will be based on the Airbus Helicopters’ site of Paris-Le Bourget, specialized in helicopter’s blades and related dynamic systems. The blade is a vital element and a very specific and complex assembly of materials, including fiber-reinforced plastics, foams and metals.

The Materials & Processes Laboratory is part of Engineering and involved in all, but also supporting manufacturing and customer services. The lab is accredited ISO17025, an international standard for testing and calibration laboratories, and is integrated in a transnational department with two others labs in Marignane and Donauwoerth. Our team is working closely with experts and engineers from our neighboring material departments.

Main activities of this position will include:

- Managing the laboratory's composite materials manufacturing activities: draping, press moulding, oven and injection manufacturing, manual and automatic machining.

- Carrying out tests and analyses (including physico-chemical analyses and macro- and microscopic investigations, as well as static mechanical and fatigue tests), in general support of the laboratory's activities.

- Developing and maintaining the laboratory's testing knowledge and expertise, including the evolution and responsibility (technical reference for AH) for specific test methods and associated tools and equipment (development of procedures and protocols)

- The management of testing affairs: exchanges with customers, test definitions, follow-up of supplies and specimen preparation, follow-up of testing and reports, synthesis and delivery.

- Acting as referent for defined technical testing domains, ensuring equipment availability and adequacy against our internal customer needs and consulting for adequate testing methods.

- Ensure continued improvement of the lab performance and digitalization of the processes and their harmonization with the other labs of the department.

Detailed skills (including level):

The applicant should hold an engineering degree, or alternatively validated by experience an equivalent engineering level (at least 7 years)

- A materials and processes background is required, including preferably knowledge in materials testing and analyses.

- An English negotiation level is required

- quality mindset and good skills in documentation tools (microsoft/google)

- The will to discover and learn in relative autonomy is essential for this position, along with strong interpersonal skills and a pro-activity mindset.

- French is mandatory

This position requires a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
