SUMMARY OF POSITION ポジションの内容

AHJ is one of the largest Customer Center Design Office dedicated to Airbus Helicopters customizations. Its engineering department studies and develops various modifications and specific solutions for the Japanese domestic market and the Asia region. The proposed internship is for Aerospace students the opportunity to have valuable work experience in a technical business unit of the leading helicopter manufacturer with global reach.

The internship is under the Head of Engineering Tutorship. Various aspects will be covered during the internship:

Architecture, Engineering Offer Management

The Engineering Offer Manager occupies a central role for the technical coordination of Helicopters customization offers and architecture.

Within the Offer & Project team, your work experience will be the management of engineering and technical activities, customer requirements analysis and helicopter configurations definition in connection with various customization offers for the Japanese domestic market.

You will discover:

  • Management of customization offers’ engineering aspects
  • Assessment of technical specifications and compliance matrix
  • Definition of design specification and feasibility / architecture studies
  • Interface with Vendors, Customer Support, Marketing, Design Office, Strategic Procurement and Suppliers
  • Aircraft performance
  • Weight and balance
  • Airworthiness regulations
  • Avionics
  • Helicopters mission and systems (medical services, search and rescue, public service...)


Flight test analysis

The Flight Test analyst verifies the helicopter modifications airworthiness demonstration with instrumented flight tests.

Within the Flight Test team and in close coordination with the Flight Test Engineering, your work experience will be the management of instrumented flight test preparation, analysis and reports in connection with various customization projects for the Japanese domestic market.

Structural & Stress engineering

As part of the design office section, the structural engineer is in charge of the structural solutions and integration into the helicopters.

For that purpose, he/she is in charge of structural design, part/installation drawing and documents up to the certification of the system including stress analysis.

You will discover:

  • Feasibility study for structural design (Location, installation method, vibration and stress point of view etc.)
  • To design interfaces between helicopters and equipment and structural drawing creation
  • To prepare all documents necessary for the design, the installation and the certification of the system into the Helicopter (eg. Instructions of installation, Test procedure, Stress analysis, certification plan etc.)
  • To prepare, participate all design review part or AHJ development process
  • In all, to apply airworthiness rules as well as internal standards.


Electrical & Avionics engineering

As part of the design office section, the electrical / avionics engineer is in charge of the architecture of avionics solutions, their electrical integration into the helicopters.

For that purpose, he/she is in charge of equipment specification, architecture definition document, electrical design, drawing and documents up to the certification of the system.

You will discover:

  • To specify and select avionics equipment and system fitting requirements - interface and exchanges with suppliers.
  • To design interfaces between helicopters and equipment/system and electrical drawing creation
  • to prepare all documents necessary for the design, the installation and the certification of the system into the Helicopter (eg. Instructions of installation, Test procedure, Electrical load analysis, certification plan etc.)
  • To prepare, participate all design review part or AHJ development process
  • In all, to apply airworthiness rules as well as internal standards.


Airworthiness engineering

Airworthiness engineer mission is to make aircraft equipped with our design fly in a safe condition with necessary approvals by showing compliance to technical requirements (eg by test, analysis...).

You will discover:

  • Get familiarized with airworthiness regulations and requirements (ICAO, EASA, JCAB, FAR, CS...)
  • Handle certification/qualification activities (STC) as airworthiness engineer;
    • Define and coordinate certification/qualification strategy within engineering team
    • Prepare certification plan means of compliance proposals (eg test, analysis...)
    • Prepare explanation and negotiation materials to authorities
  • Maintain design and certification process (design management system)
  • Coordinate for design organization approvals (Design Supplier Approvals, JCAB DOA...)


For each of the Scope of Work proposal, the student will coordinate with every section of the engineering department.
