About us:

Our Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprentices get the unique opportunity to work across a wide variety of teams within Airbus, giving you the “university experience” with 3 whole years of invaluable industry experience. During the exciting scheme, you will get the opportunity to work with many different IT applications. You will follow industry leading project management methodologies to deliver successful business-critical projects, whilst earning a full-time salary and paying ZERO fees to do so.

The apprenticeship give you the unique opportunity to work in a wide variety of disciplines including:

  • Cyber Security

  • IT Service Delivery Management

  • Data Analytics

  • Operational Technology

  • Software Development

  • Information Management

Over the 3 years, alongside your workplace commitments, you will achieve a fully funded BSc (Hons) in Applied Data Science. The completion of this degree will be intertwined with your work based experiences, part of which will directly contribute to your degree.

You will be studying via our partner Bangor University and local colleges and your industry based work takes place at our world leading aircraft manufacturer site in Broughton (near Chester), North Wales. Please note, this will require some travel on day release study to a college in North Wales.

We are also believers in experiential learning too, and there are many events that take place that

offer exciting opportunities to grow and develop whilst also having fun!

What you will be doing:

This apprenticeship is delivered through a combination of on the job training at Airbus, and university based learning on day release over the duration of the 3 year programme.

You will learn key skills in Applied Data Science and have the opportunity to apply real world analytical practices, which will contribute directly to your degree whilst adding value to our business.

Key activities of the industry based work of this apprenticeship may include:

  • Participating in product development projects including the analysis, design, test and integration of IT Products

  • Completing, and in some cases leading, Data Analytics projects to improve our manufacturing performance to get meaningful value from the data

  • Research, evaluation and development of new digital tools to improve IT product development efficiency

  • Bespoke software development and customisation to meet evolving business needs

  • Project management, involving gathering requirements, creating technical specifications and architecture documents, creating and maintaining documentation and managing a project timeline

During this time, you will also get to work with various teams in our engineering, design, quality, operations support, cyber security, IT solutions and helpdesk teams and operations departments, whilst also having the opportunity to pick placements outside of your area of study, including HR, facilities management, recruitment, finance and much more.

Requirements:

This is an ideal role for someone with a keen interest in ICT, digital technology, Internet of Things, mobile apps, data analytics and future tech.

In order to be eligible for this apprenticeship you must achieve a minimum of:

  • 3 A-Levels as grade C or above, with at least one in Maths, Sciences and IT

Or

  • BTEC L3 National or Extended Diploma and Cambridge Technical Diplomas in Maths, Science or an IT subject, at minimum MMM grade

Or

  • Access to HE Diploma Merit Level in either Maths, Science or an IT subject

Or

  • Welsh Baccalaureate with either a Maths, Science or an IT subject at H grades

AND

  • GCSE grade C/4 or above in Maths.

**Please note that, due to the funded nature of this programme, applicants with undergraduate degrees in computing/IT are not eligible.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Computer literate and ideally have experience with Google Suite or similar;

  • Self motivated and keen to develop themselves;

  • Good listeners and communicators;

  • Happy to enrol in a variety of tasks;

  • Able to organise and manage priorities;

  • Experience in computer languages such as C++, Python, JavaScript, HTML would be beneficial but not essential;

  • Submit your CV stating your grades and if they are predicted or achieved;

  • Submit a Cover Letter stating your motivations.

Important Information:

GRADES: If you are on predicted grades, your offer will be conditional to achieving the required grades before the apprenticeship start date.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance OR You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check) .

Our apprenticeship roles do not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas & Immigration to enable sponsorship of migrant workers.
