About us:
Do you have a passion for Mechanical Design and looking to work within the Space industry?
You will be joining the Mechanical Design Office (MDO) at Airbus Defence & Space in Stevenage which is part of our transnational central engineering function. We are a team of 70 designers and technical experts who are all passionate about finding technical solutions to support Telecom and Exploration Satellite missions. We are an ideal mix of people who can help you develop technically and personally in the role.
The group is responsible for product design from concept through to production using the latest Dassault digital tool set, primarily 3DX Catia V6. We are focused on Digital Transformation, continually evolving our methodologies to maximise efficiency across the end to end design and manufacturing processes.
What you will be doing:
While ‘in the office’, you will be part of a multi-functional project team with an MDO Lead Designer assigned as your mentor and working alongside other specialist engineering disciplines. You will work with the project team to complete the early customization and development design challenges and be required to evolve the Spacecraft Assembly Digital Mock-up in 3DX. This will lead into the generation and configuration of the required manufacturing data for production.
You will undertake 4-6 month placement rotations in various design teams including our Structure Design Group, Antenna Products Group, Propulsion Systems Engineering Group, and Spacecraft Architecture. Wherever possible, these rotations will align with your course modules so you have the opportunity to bring your learnings to life.
