Data Scientist

You will join the "Digital Innovation Team", being part of Airbus Helicopters’ Transformation Department, which strives to develop technologies bridging the gap between research and business. We work in a uniquely collaborative model across Airbus Group and throughout all levels of our internal customers, whether they are manufacturing, quality, support, finance, engineering, HR or Marketing and Sales.

Our team aims at using the latest technological capabilities to solve Airbus Business problems or improve the way we design, produce and support our Helicopters and Services. That means that Advanced Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality and Internet of Things are the technologies we leverage on a day to day basis - and more are about to come.

As part of the digital transformation of Airbus Helicopters, you will be working on the design of machine learning models to address various business issues, based on the latest scientific and technological advances in the field of data science. Depending on the progress of the project, you may be asked to contribute to a set of initiatives.

You will

  • Translate business needs into actionable solutions in a timely manner
  • Assist in the collection, cleaning, and preprocessing of data from various sources.
  • Develop and implement machine learning models
  • Evaluate model performance and iterate on model design to improve accuracy.
  • Create visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop and deploy AI solutions.
  • Contribute to the documentation of data science processes and models.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science and machine learning.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: 4+ years of experience in Data Science or ML Engineering, ideally within an industrial or research-to-business context.
  • Education: Master’s degree or PhD in artificial intelligence, Computer Science or software engineering
  • Understanding of machine learning algorithms and statistical analysis.
  • Agile software development and project management
  • Proficiency in Python, including libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, and XGBoost LightGBM.
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Knowledge of SQL and experience working with databases.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP and Kubernetes is a plus
  • Soft skills: rigorous, analytical, creative, dynamic and curious, team player, autonomous
  • Open to travel to Marignane and Donauworth to accompany AI projects when needed

Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory (international environment). [Optional: French or German is a plus].
