Job Description:
Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Battery Technician to join our team based in Mobile, AL.
The Battery Shop Technician is responsible for the testing, charging and maintaining Aircraft Lead Acid and Ni-Cad Batteries per OEM and Airbus specifications and maintaining logs in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Transport Canada (TCCA) requirements.

Nearby on ‘Airbus Way’ you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Your challenges:
- Ability to safely use different types of electrical measurement equipment (ex. multimeter)
- Ability to safely use different types of charging equipment
- Ability to safely move, store and handle batteries
- Safe use of various electrical measuring techniques used to validate conformance to requirements
Primary Responsibilities
• Electrical Testing & Power Management
- Utilize specialized electrical test equipment, including digital multimeters and battery analyzers, to validate performance metrics.
- Manage the safe operation of constant-current and constant potential charging systems tailored to specific battery chemistries.
- Execute the secure movement, storage, and handling of hazardous materials (batteries) in compliance with shop safety protocols.
- Apply advanced electrical measuring techniques to ensure all components meet stringent airworthiness standards.
- Partner with Shop Leads and Supervisors to resolve technical discrepancies or equipment malfunctions.
- Interface effectively with the Quality Department to ensure all shop outputs align with aviation safety standards.
• Component Modification & Identification
- Operate Laser and Rotary Engraving equipment for the permanent identification of aircraft parts.
- Safely utilize small-scale Heat Treating Ovens and Acid Etch processes for part refinement.
- Complete all technical "paperwork" and maintenance release tags with 100% accuracy.
- Maintenance of records requires absolute attention to detail, punctuation, and grammar to meet federal audit standards.
- Perform "Bag and Tag" procedures and part marking to ensure full component traceability throughout the maintenance lifecycle.
Other duties as assigned
Operational Support & Administration
- Utilize SAP for work order management, parts requisition, and labor tracking.
- Manage personal administrative tasks, including time charging and the tracking of Personal Time Bank (PTB) and Vacation (VAC) accruals.
- Adhere to safe lifting practices and ergonomic standards within allowable weight limits.
- Perform other specialized duties as assigned to support shop flow and production goals.
Your boarding pass:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Trade Schools
- Minimum five (5) years of relative experience (detailed apprenticeship or trade school certification plus experience can be substituted for years of experience).
Physical Requirements:
- Vision: Adequate to enter and read material on computer screens or controls on machines, lathes, etc.
- Hearing: Able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation
- Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying sizes with or without amplification.
- Lifting: Able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs/23kg.
- Pushing/Pulling: Able to push/pull items in office areas and on the shop
- Squatting/Kneeling: Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom
- Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of time while
- Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips, and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces other business interactions
