Airbus UpNext is looking for a Project Management Officer for a strategic new demonstrator aiming to revolutionize commercial aviation through the automation of aircraft airside ground operations at airports.

The demonstrator team will deliver an extremely ambitious and disruptive proof of concept, explore the feasibility of radical breakthroughs, and directly support the long-term strategic ambitions of Airbus for future aircraft generations. As such, be prepared for a wild ride, testing unconventional ways of driving a project at a fast pace, and be ready for many pivots throughout, as we will explore the unknown.

This position is within Airbus UpNext, based in Toulouse (Saint Martin), and

it consists of a limited contract (CDI-C) linked to the deliverables of the demonstrator (estimated completion date March 2028 ) , starting ASAP.

Mission :

As the Project Management Officer, you will be the right hand to the Head of Demonstrator, ensuring the project runs smoothly, safely, and meets its ambitious milestones. You will drive its operational rhythm and ensure performance is tracked and managed effectively, operating far beyond the scope of a traditional PMO.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Project Performance & Agile Drumbeat :
    • Support the Head of Demonstrator in managing the project’s performance against its Time, Cost and Quality (TCQ) objectives.
    • Deploy traditional project management metrics alongside tailored Agile project management methodologies. Bridge conventional and Agile frameworks to maximize team velocity and operational efficiency.
    • Formalize and track the master schedule against the ambitious 30-month timeline, monitoring progress towards key milestones.
    • Produce required reports for coordination and alignment.

  • Financial performance and control:
    • Monitor the project’s financial performance, tracking the Forecasted Cost at Completion against the established budget
    • Produce required reports for coordination and alignment with UpNext at central level.

  • Contracting, Procurement, Intellectual Property & Partner/supplier Investigation :
    • Act as a key interface with the UpNext central contracts, legal and procurement teams.
    • Manage the tendering processes, contract negotiations and supply chain logistics for the project.
    • Help manage the project’s Intellectual Property (IP), ensuring needed IP protection clauses are included in commercial agreements.
    • Set up contract management with project partners and suppliers

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated project management experience within fast-paced, high-tech industrial environments. Project management certificate would be a plus.
  • Financial & Contractual Acumen: Strong command of monitoring project budgets, supplier relations, contract drafting, IP management, and managing tendering/RFP processes.
  • Unconventional Problem-Solving: Practical, hands-on problem-solving skills with a distinct "doer" attitude, comfortable navigating unstructured contexts.
  • Communication skills: Negotiation-level fluency in English is mandatory, along with excellent communication skills to manage stakeholder interfaces across diverse organizational layers. Additional proficiency in French is a plus.

  • Lead the purchase and receipt activities
  • End-to-End RFP Management: Orchestrate competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) cycles. This includes preparing complex technical dossiers together with the Technical Leader, launching the RFPs, reading and judging technical/financial responses, and building structured comparative decision tables for steering committees.

  • Governance & Stakeholder Alignment:
    • Maintain the project’s Risk & Opportunity register, ensuring mitigation actions are assigned and driven to completion.
    • Prepare all tracking materials and synthesis dashboards for regular high-pressure Stop&Go reviews with the steering committee and sponsors.
    • Support the management of key stakeholders to ensure alignment and clear communication.

  • Team & Operational Support:
    • Support the Head of Demonstrator and HR in team development, including framing targeted Job Requisitions (JRs) for future recruitments.
    • Serve as a key interface within the multi-functional project team, helping to define internal processes and establish a collaborative environment.
    • Ensure project learnings, operational procedures and other relevant key deliverables are properly collected and documented in preparation for knowledge dissemination and the final facility handover to Airbus.
    • Act as a proactive doer to clear roadblocks.
